Welcome to the Scavenger Hunts from Life.
The Hunts were started in 2006 by Jamie Williams Grossman as a way to practice with prompts. Artists have come and gone while forming some lasting friendships. We hope you will join in and tune up your sketching skills. All levels and techniques are welcome. We hope you can have some good times here. You can travel the world seeing the sketches of items at hand by the artists.

If you've participated in at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one we would really appreciate it. You can sign up by posting your name on the current hosting schedule in the Art From Life forum here:
https://creativespark.art/threads/scavenger-hunt-from-life-host-sign-up-list.2481/

Here are the rules for the Hunt:
* All everyday common items on the list must be sketched from life - not imagination or photo reference.
* Each object you draw can count for only one item on the listless, no matter how many shapes / parts / colors that object contains. This was agreed on by unanimous vote among the participants.
* You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count these objects as separate items, but no single object can count for more than one item.
* All items posted must be numbered. Count them as you go. The first item you post will be # 1 regardless of its place on the list. Do them in whatever order you wish, but count them in the order in which you sketch them, from 1 to 26.
* Do as many or as few of the items as you like. You don't have to finish the entire list to participate. The Scavenger Hunt “week” will last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.
* Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you for each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are welcome.
* Have fun!
*** If you have some hunt sketches completed but little time to read / comment, please post your sketches anyway. Commenting is appreciated but not required

Thanks Robin, yes,I hope so too, I hope everyone can have fun doing a drawing.
1Tree, but public drawing that is replacement with fruits, sorry, I remembered badly some words on the list, I made this drawing last night, a5, pen, I was undecided whether to post, since the replacements are ok, they are fine, then I place it as a fruit / gift of the tree

Great job with the citrus, Joe1.

I came down stair in time to see Tone, Iris, and Lily doing a VDO call to their Grandma in the US.... and Miss Lily was relaxing up side down on our sofa while talking to her grandma on phone.

#1 human figure -- Miss Lily in Up-side-down view on sofa ... I wrote the date wrong, it was Aug 27... oops

joe1lt, again thanks for the list. I love your idea of gifts from the tree. I really like the hatching and lines.

Ai, your human figure of Miss Lily made me chuckle. So sweet.

Robin, such great 5 minute sketches. The toaster is ready to be used . Clean desktop!! Nice idea on the two wheels, Gene has one of those that I haven't ever sketched, thanks for the idea for another time. Fun dog on the move! Anvil is sketched with great hatching. Good idea on the shovel and cute screwdriver. Nice finds.

Porch sketching as always so ....repeats on items from other hunts.
Number 1, eyeglasses - Gene's, he leaves the little sticker on so he knows which pair he wants to use for TV or computer or ??
Number 2, two wheels - the trailer we used to take to New Mexico and on travels.
In the big regular paper Canson book. Almost finished, about 10 pages to go.

Joe 1, thanks for the new list. I'm a little slow getting it but I promise to get some items done. Good sketches of the lemon and orange.

Ai, what a fun sketch of Miss Lily upside down. lol I don't think I can get into a position like that any more.

Robin, as always I love the hatching you do in your sketches. It gives them such life. I like that palm-sized screwdriver and your shading on the anvil. Nice job!!

Jo, Gene is always so good to pose for you! Nice job on the glasses and the trailer.

Thank you Joe! I am returning RubyRedDog to forums from WC after years being inactive. Sketching is where I need the most improvement so opting for the scavenger hunts. #1 took about 15 minutes, warming up, in my 8"? moleskin with Papermate MP #2. This is Writing Desk. Objects on desk are from list sorta but not counting. More effort when not so late. Happy to be back and see some familiar faces. I'll snope around site to see more rules etc., like attachment sizes.

Joe, love the tree gift drawings, your trees? Ai, what a cute drawing. My last hunt Miss Lily was a baby. Robin, those are great drawings, so much detail for 5 mins. Jo, portrait very good, tag :), trailer super sweet.

All: Thanks for your kind support.

Jo: Thank you. Cool eye glass and the two wheels.

Robin: Thanks. Inspiring set. I esp. love the simple lines in dog sketch and the super cool asymetrical hardware tool one.

Gail: Thanks a lot. Let's have fun sketching here. Nice desk and stuff on top.

I had to drop Miss Iris to take a national biology test exam. The test center was in the old town center of Bangkok, very near ChaoPhraya River and flower market district. So while wait for Iris to finish with her exam, I walked around ...stopped and sketched at this point where I saw a view of two bridges and boats .... done in a small Moleskin double page spread, in directwatercolor.

#2 technological -- two types of bridges i) the old one with iron works ii) the newer one with modern concrete

The following stop also was done at a nearby cafe in flower district of Bangkok, in directwatercolor.
#3 sub. writing desk with a desk in a cafe
#4 sub. objects on writing desk with objects on and around a cafe desk
#1 human figure - b) Miss Kate, a tourist in Bangkok. She has 11 hour layover to step out of Bangkok airport to this cafe in flower market district, and a nice spa as her next stop ... before heading back to the airport and fly back home to Seattle. I showed the sketch to her and she gave me a big smile.

Joan, thank you very much, it's quiet about the timing, draw calmly, Gail, thanks very much, for these 2 fruits are not, but sometimes I drew lemon taken from the tree, ,good draw, happy that you gathered in the hunt and forum, about the size of the attachments, I don't remember any limit but it doesn't give me problems, sometimes I put small files, max 0.3 etc, before, sometimes I put rows of even 1mb per row 1.5mb, and it was fine the same. Ai, they are wonderful watercolours, nice job on both

Gail, thanks for joining in. I love your sketch.

Ai, you always find such neat things. I like the bridges and the traveler. applause!!!!

Jo - thanks for the new list!

Everyone - you've been busy - well done - great work posted. I'll see what I can get done.

Gail (Ruby Red Dog) welcome back! Good to have you join us. Nice writing desk...lots of room.

Ai, hope Lily did well on the test. Nice technology sketch...I like the two different types of bridges. Great sketch of the tourist at the cafe. She found a nice place to spend her layover time.

Jo, what a cute little monkey! I like how you did his texture.

Joe 1 & EP, hi!
