Scavenger Hunt from Life #132: Oct 02 - Oct 10

Moscatel, thanks.

Ai, nice simple lines for October sketches.

5 - jumbo spider web - watercolors and ink
6 - heavy car
7 - light leaves

As you can see I have been packing. I needed a little break so I sketched my suitcase and the area around it.
8 - corner of a room - continuous ink line

Joan: Beautiful sketch of the house with Halloween decoration web on the window. Love your green and all ink lines to give its texture. Have a safe and fun trip. Looking forward to see your artworks from Venice.... May be you might meet Brenda Swenson... She is vacationing in Firenze at the moment.

Joan, lovely spider web autumn house. Your suitcase drawing doesn't show to me.
Ai, nice drawings!

#1 Remote -> Far away Beach - A pleinair from yesterday in very cold weather. I froze completely and almost gave up half way. No wind helped a little bit. 30x40 cm, oil on canvas. Painting time: 1.5 hours

#2: To do with a sport

My landlady's daughter played in a netball tournament. I accompanied her to go watch the game. Didn't have the guts to try sketching the rapidly moving players, so I sketched the score keepers instead. :)

Ai, thanks. I will keep my eyes open for Brenda. I thought the same thing when she mentioned she was going to Italy.

Moscatel, thanks for letting me know the image of the suitcase didn't show. Love your plein air of the beach. The cold makes it difficult to paint sometimes. I travel with gloves and earmuffs just in case. I should pop a hat into my backpack too.

Brian, how fun to sketch some of the excitement of the tournament. I like the score keepers (who look very intent on their job.) It is hard to sketch people when they are moving at events like that.

I don't know why my suitcase sketch didn't show. I'm posting it again...fingers crossed. lol

Ned, thank you!
Joan, thanks! Your suitcase to Venice is a good and memorable subject! Have a nice travel! Enjoy Venice!

Moscatelle, thank you,

Waiting for my hubby to finish the one bag he needs to pack and then shower. He is slow enough that I had time to sketch the acorns I collected.
9 - snack for the squirrels - ink and marker

Thank you so very much everyone for your encouraging comments on the last event 😌

I made a small speed sketch, but I want to ink it for Inktober, and I haven't done that yet. But I like that they allow a pencil under-sketch for InkNewbies like me. I want to do one Ink sketch a week, for a year, for the Weekly Inktober. Ink has been a rarity for me, so this will be a fun part of re-learning how to draw 😆 Can't use most of the Inktober prompts anyway because of homeless (stuffLESS) situation, LOL, but they say it's okay, so I'll try to sketch for these events, each week for a year - that would be a miracle right there!!! 🤪

But I'm back here today not only to thank you, but because I'm sick with worry for Robin, and now for Joe/Fletch and bride as well, because a big storm now seems aimed at them.

I wish everyone in Florida would somehow be able to move without hardship, right now, to somewhere safer. Dream, but not reality.

Robin, please come back to your home here, safe and well.

Joe/Fletch, please stay safe, you and your sweetheart, and let everyone know how you're doing whenever you can do so safely. I hope somehow you've been able to leave already, if that's possible, and that whatever you've decided, you are both safe, always.

Joan, hope you have lots of fun in Italy, and safe journeys, always.

Everyone, wonderful work, and fun banter, and I'll try to comment on all soon.

I’m on my phone so lots of scrollind.
Ai nice lines on the journals. And bottles. And a mug for my collection!

Brian amazing bolts

Joan always great buildings.

Sorry to be absent. We were expecting company so I didn’t sketch. Gene had a stroke yesterday about 230. Luckily we got him to the hospital so seemed not so bad. He had a rough day today. MRI on Tuesday and then we will know more. Lots of support. We are in Austin. Company stayed at the house tonight. All good.

#5 passport ...guess where we took the girls to this Embassy in Bangkok today to renew their passports...The embassy does not allow any photo taking or recording at the waiting area... so my little sketchbook became handy ... For my InkTober..The flag was in the waiting area.... Pardon my wonky bird... It was high up there on the flag pole....lol

Joan: Thanks... Great suitcase sketch and the Acorn brings me lots of smile... Welldone and very clever. Have a great time in Italy.

Jo: Thanks... So sorry to hear of Gene's condition. Hope Gene can recover quick and you are OK to handle this. My prayer goes to your family.

PineCone and All: Hello

Brian: Very nice sketch of the referee. I find it challenging too to do sports related sketch in motion .

Thanks. No comments but want to say I see great plein air and more. I sketched in the Canson travel sketchbook with the Acurit 3 out window of Gene’s room on the 5th floor. Number ? Remote - The steeple is many blocks away. Joanna says it is the old Concordia University. Typing on phone. Argh.

I tried to log in earlier on my iPad but was using th wrongbinfonyonlog in and they froze me out. I don’t remember passwords and didn’t bring a list with me. Seems to be working now.

Pine Cone, glad you are getting back to art. Sounds like you have a plan.

Jo, I’m so sorry to hear about Gene’s stroke. Hope he is doing better. Good to see a change of scenery from you, but that’s not a good way to change things up. ((Hugs!))

Ai, thanks. Nice sketch from the embassy!

Fletch, praying that this one doesn’t do much damage by you and Sharon!

One if these was done on the plane last night and the other one on the train from Milan to Venice.

Remote location - watercolors and ink

Joan -- I hope you have a wonderful time in Venice! Those are great!

Apologies if I miss commenting for someone!

Jo -- I liked the color especially the 2nd one with the water ( that's a lovely scene! ) good different textures in the foliage!
Brian -- I like your sketch of the scorekeepers!
Ai -- I'm sure I like the eagle better that way! :)

After a few days driving I'm home in California now. It will take a few days to get back in the rhythm of living here, and drawing, and everything. I could really tell today that I haven't drawn in a while.

Well wishes to Robin and hoping she is okay.

#1 water this place is called Gleason Overlook, I've often thought of drawing here, but never have before. Need to go back sometime and try again... maybe a few times, it's a neat view. I drive by it often on my way to different beaches...
