I'll post Sue's and then mine and comment later. Fun stuff....

Number 1, natural - out by the pond/lake where it is getting so dry ink and watercolors. In small mixed media sketchbooks. Fun!!

Hi All 👋

Lots of great work here! Jo -- that tree is great! I've been fishing and hiking and also some chores... carried my pocket sketchbook but haven't gotten it out yet for this hunt... hopefully this weekend...

Fletch, thanks. It is fun to see how to get all the details in my sketches.

Jo, glad to see you and Sue did some artwork outside. Both are lovely...nice autumn palettes in both.

I met friends up in Sag Harbor for lunch today. I would have loved to stay in the town and sketch before going home, but it is too hard to park and my 2 hrs in my parking spot was up and I had to move the car. On the way home I kept my eyes open looking for a fun sketch...and I found it. This is a market along the way in Southampton. Cars and trucks kept parking and blocking my view as the drivers went inside, but I finally finished all parts of the scene.
7 - an entrance - watercolors and ink
8 - view in a window
9 - something I've never drawn before (those freezers where they store the bags of ice)
10 - animal (fish sign)

Jo: Lovely natural both your work and Sue's .... love the colors and seem like you two had lots of fun.

Joan: Superb... both the details and the groovy fun charming New England shop. Love the fish sign, the Sandwich sign, and the icebox... all are cool, down to their benches.

Brian: Wonderful study of little sheep...in many angles too.

Moscatel: Marvelous on another plein aire of choppy water.

Ned & all.... Hello. I have pretty busy week at work but hope to do some more sketches soon.

Jo & Sue - Love the tree. The second one for some radon looks like a sketch to do a pastel. 😎

Ned 👋🏽. Did say most important in this Hunt is to have fun. So fishing, hiking, sketching 👍🏽 Chores 👎🏽

Joan - Persistence and patience paid off! Nice.

Keep sketching
Fletch

moscatel, mmm, love how your plein air fits right into your scene in the photo! I like the tree techniques and the reflections. The lake view is wonderful. I like the dramatic sky. Nice kitty, pal to have along. Thanks for the photos along with the painting views.

Joan, your scene with the traffic light and flag is so good. You are the queen of detail.

eyepaint, the glimpses into your world are fun and well done. I like your choices of items. Clever finds. Yay on the apple. In and out the window is great as are the bookshelves. Well, all of them actually!

Brian, the sheep is great and such a variety of poses. Great idea to be using the toys. Good shading and gestures.

Sue did another great sketch from photos this p.m. I posted our stuff and was trying to get a canvas ready to put on some acrylics tomorrow.

Something from a vehicle. Okay, it's the whole vehicle, so sue me. A toy train:

I have started to notice a persistent error I make over and over: I draw the objects from a higher viewpoint than the one from which I am looking at them. And then everything goes wrong, though it doesn't necessarily show in the drawing. Well, the first step towards fixing an error is to notice it, so I call that progress. :)

Brian - Everything from a vehicle definitely includes Something from a vehicle 😎 Nicely done. Love the shading.

Ai - Nce line work and hatching on the scooter.

Jo are you going to share Sue’s other work?

Keep sketching
Fletch

Sue is leaving early tomorrow. Last minute fun tonight..... Lots of visiting .. can't talk fast enough. Also visiting out with Texas kiddos.

Number 2 (me) never sketched - toy from my ggs they left behind. In the Canson large sketchbook, Micron 03

Number 3 me, view out window - with the watercolors and Micron 03 on Master's Touch Watercolor pad

Not for the Hunt - Sue's watercolor of barn on the Master's Touch watercolor pad with pastels, ink and cardboard straight edges sort of Charlie Hunter style.

Gotta go to bed!! Yikes.

Jo, excellent window view and barn! I like them both a lot! Absolutely special drawings of the toys, I like a lot "number 2" drawing in your last post: it has something so admirable soft, composition/grouping is interesting, things are just perfect somehow in this drawing! I like a lot your tree and water land paintings. The colors are so beautiful. Are these all your paintings, Jo? If some are your friend's paintings, please, tell your friend, I like them a lot! Thank you so much for your kind comments on my lake view!

Ai, good drawing of a vehicle. 👍 Thank you for your comment on mine!

Brian, excellent 👌

Joan, you went to Sag Harbor! There's my favorite art gallery, Grenning Gallery run/owned by Laura Grenning. Several of my workshop art teachers show and sell their work in this gallery. Your painting from Southampton is excellent! I admire how you have so much detail painted in this painting! Glad you found a place to paint in the end, sometimes it's challenging to paint outside with all the disturbing factors. I always wanted to paint this kind of view with vegetables outside in front of the store but it always looks so complicated to paint. On my painting trip to Venice I almost did one but got scared last minute and went to paint a less busy canal instead. Maybe next time I'll be brave.
Also, thank you for your comment on mine!

Ned, "Hi" back!

#4 Something you never drew before - "I never drew/painted this nocturne castle before"

40 min painting by the water at night was unexpected cold, temperatures went down surprisingly low. Also, warm jacuzzi was waiting for me at the cabin so I was tempted to pack things and return to the cabin. These nocturne pleinairs are usually quite desasterous but I post it anyway 😁 .

Oils on wood.

There was the moon 🌝
IMG20240919205812.jpg

I was too tired to wait a half an hour or even more the moon to move over the castle, this last photo I took from the parking lot, but I painted the moon there when it was positioned aside. Artistic license I suppose! 💫

A slow day for us here... Nothing much happening... Just enjoy lazy away... Jotted down Tone (attempting to watch TV or watch his cellphone) and a photo of my blue whale chopstick rest in my hand

Thanks all for your kind comments on my sketch.

Jo and Sue: Super sketches... I love the new toys you sketch and the toy sketch from Sue felt so gentle and soft.

Moscatel: Wonderful nocturne .... love the glow.

Thanks all, I can't go back and comment on all. Great work.

Moscatel, love your plein air stuff including the amazing castle and nocturn. Ai, fun stuff as always. Love seeing Tone. Joan and Brian such good stuff.

Sue left at daybreak this morning. She did the sketches of the beautiful tree, the barn and my toys hanging on the wall with the balloon. She is an amazing artist and friend. We met at a workshop in Montana in 1995 and visited back and forth between Texas, New Mexico and Michigan. Gene was great friends with her late husband, Wally. Such good times!! We would paint daylight to dark and then eat with the guys and drink some wine! We have slowed down a bit. Didn't get any real painting done. Did get in food and wine. Lots of fun.

My last one as the sun came up when we got back from the airport. Number 4 I think, seasonal - the bedraggled geranium is making one more comeback and the hummers will be leaving soon. In the Canson sketchbook with Micron 03 and watercolors.

csshfl130seasonal.jpg

Brian - lovely study of the chess pieces in different orientations. Brave of you to try a pine cone. Those are tough. Yay candlestick! Yay little sheep studies in different angles/viewpoints! Figurines would be so much more cooperative than the real live animal, hey? Thank you. Great idea to do a whole vehicle. I was in my vehicle and looking around at what I could remove to sketch ... and I was empty-handed ...

Ai - love the minerals! Wowee! And that bird feather is another wowee!! The tree on the left in your post #13 is splendid - the greens! The marks! Wow! Yahoo blue chopstick rest :) And thank you . Yay scooter. I feel like it needs bright pink on it.

Joan - great landscape with the lighthouse. Stunning river scene with the bridge and the greenery. Love your little vignettes of Sayville and Sag Harbor- I feel like I'd recognize lots of places if I go there. Thank you. Woo hoo deli! The front of stores is so fascinating

moscatel - yay castle! Is this in Germany? Love love love the lake/pond piece and how you put the camera at the spot where the painting lines up with the real items - wowee!! Fun with the cat on the blue chair while you're painting. Yahoo nocturne castle! Your comment on the warm jacuzzi reminded me of a snorkeling tour in Alaska that had a warm jacuzzi at the end ... it was warm water in a cooler that you dumped down your wetsuit after getting out of the ocean.

jmfletch - thank you

Jo - yay trees! I must have missed it ... who is Sue? Thank you. That is indeed a fun little toy. Great idea to paint colours on the "view out the window" sketch. Gorgeous work by Sue with the barn and the bare tree with splatter. Bedraggled geranium made me smile :)
