In July I participated a pleinair festival in Ireland, Wexford. This pleinair event is the largest in Europe with more than 200 participants. This year it was organized 18th time.
We were taken by bus to the painting locations.

Here's my Kilmore Quay pleinair in high wind. I finished some detail later at home because I held the easel with my left hand most of the time so that the whole thing wouldn't fall down. A lady painting next to me had her easel fall to the ground three times.
Kilmore Quay has village with these white huts just few steps from the beach.

"Kilmore Quay", oil on canvas, 16x13 inches.

I’m glad you didn’t give up on this one, Grapes, because it’s such a beautiful painting! It must have been hard battling the wind and trying not to lose your concentration. I love the sky and the movement of the clouds and you did great work on the building too.

I agree with Donna, it's all beautifully done Grapes. It sounds like it was challenging location to paint in! Glad you persevered.

Jade, thanks!
I went afterwards down to the harbor to paint boats:

There was lots of distraction in the harbor, wasn't a calm location to paint. So cloudy but little less wind.

Beautifully done, especially the thatched roof! Since I don't even like running in the wind, I cannot imagine trying to do something that requires dexterity on a windy day. I saw that Wexford was south of Dublin, which was one of the places in Ireland we stopped in August.

Can't wait to see more of these!

Nice boats! It’s wonderful to see the views that you painted, Grapes, and I know how stressful it is to paint in busy areas (at least it was for me.) Do you tone your canvasses ahead of time or do you prefer to choose a color on location?

Donna, Thanks..I did tone the canvases beforehand and made sure toning was well dry when I paint on it. I usually tone them. Grounds/audience can be distracting, not always but too much sometimes. 😊

Joy, thank you. I saw Dublin only briefly. I guess I was focusing more on painting on this trip.
That day painting in high wind in Kilmore Quay and the white huts village I was actually waiting for the moment I can draw a brush stroke on canvas when wind stops blowing for a second or two. It was kind of an experience and fun 😊 struggle. Once in a lifetime thing.

Jade, 👍 thanks!
