Gouache is an opaque watercolor. It dries with a matte finish.

I'm dreadful with gouache, and really don't enjoy using it - but the matte finish makes it useful for underpainting oil pastels.

Robin - Sorry that your images are still showing up sideways, but I like your ink style - particularly the water tap, and spray bottle.
