Scavenger Hunt #161: May 27 - June 7

Today the NYC Urban Sketchers met at Domino Park (built on the site of the former Domino Sugar Refinery) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It was windy and cold for a spring day, but I brought along layers to keep warm. We were OK if we found something to help block the wind.

Ned and all: Thanks for your kind support.

Joan: Amazing load of plein air sketch. Fantastic urban sketching by the syrup tanks with all your friends...Super tree scene with iconic NYC bridge. Beautiful children picnic with class in the park.

Robin: Thanks. Love your 25 minutes super power burst with dazzling lines that I adore. Love the hammock outdoor with your lovely feline in company.

Jo: Thanks. Love to see sketches from you. They tell lot of story and your day. Have a good rest day.

I was back to Bangkok by train from Hua Hin shore town since yesterday. Have not done more art, but it is good to cook and eat with all family. Hua Hin seaside was good but nothing top being with family that everyone is in great health and great smiles. Luckily, we have a 4-day long weekend in Thailand. I have one more day of grading another exam papers... Yike... welcome back to reality...lol.... Hope to do some sketches though.

#13 water -- a view of DaoKaNong canal from KP Slowbar and Cafe... done in directwatercolor ... I was not sure how to do the scene... I just try to put down paint esp. in the background with my square flat brush... about 20 minutes

Ai, your boats along the cafe canal are great! I can imagine sitting there with the water lapping against the pier and the warm sunshine. Super job on the color and reflections in the water.

Hi Robin, thanks. I like your flowers and fun hammock. My kind of "outdoors" activity.

Joan, Great moments captured at the park. Pretty landscape with lovely trail Your fundraising painting is very cool. Congrats, it should sell in a minute. The view with the bridges is amazing. "Syrupy sweet" sketch of the sketchers. I'm smiling.

Ai, I agree with Joan. Relaxing view and imagining sounds. Love the trees with the flat brush.

No sketching, too much baseball on the weekend. Texas lost so over for "our" team. I will still watch tidbits as LSU and Tennessee and Louisville are family members teams.

Jo, thanks so much. Domino Park was a fun place to sketch, but it was so windy on Sunday. Brrr!!! Sorry your team lost, but at last you have other teams to root for.

The 30 x 30 Direct Watercolor challenge has started, so I'm going to try to participate. I was already a day behind so I did a few today. I like to be at least a day ahead.
Done at the Suffolk County Animal Farm today.

Hi all. Am still here. Lurking. Wishfully thinking of things I could draw.

Ai - Love the boats. That moody misty photo looks ready to be painted. Those long boats look so sleek. Nicely done.

Jo - Nice cars, like the texture on the building.

Robin - Love the focus of color in an otherwise ink drawing. That hammock looks like the perfect spot to nap!

Joan - Love the picnic. Laughed trying to imagine painting 2nd graders. Absolutely love the piece for the museum.👍🏽. Almost homesick seeing your painting of East River from what sounds like a new park. Speaking of new. New style for the 30x30? Animals and flowers look looser than your typical style.

Keep sketching and learning
Fletch

Hi ya.... Thanks Joan and Fletch.

Joan the direct watercolor sheep are so good. But the Cosmos look light and breezy, I always try those and they look thick and lumpy. Just lovely.

I was recuperating today, missed PT so maybe sketch tomorrow.

Jo, thanks. It was hard to get the details in the sheep cause I was working small...and they kept turning around. lol Hope you recuperated enough to sketch today.

Joan: Thanks. Great job of the animals at the Norfolk farm, the flower sketch, cosmos, is fantastic and sure brings me lots of joy. I would like to join 30x30directwatercolor as well... but I have already been behind... hahaha

Fletch & Jo: Thanks so much.
