Hi Everyone. 👋

I didn't fall off the face of the earth! Baseball, fishing, and 3 new rods in process of being built ( learned how to make a cool thread wrap called a "tiger wrap", it looks like a tigers eye gemstone.... don't think I'll be able to photograph it because it's how it changes and shimmers when it moves that makes it look neat... it takes a lot of time and lots of layers of epoxy... ) plus trying to find time for walks when not raining. Baseball again tomorrow, then more rain next week, I'll be back soon!!! :)

Ai -The sketches of the mask and ceremony are wonderful. Do not hear many acknowledge the spiritual side of art which makes it more interesting that your culture actually has a ceremony for it.

Joan - Like the aerial perspective in the grasses painting. Wow. That is a lot of background work a post. 😎 Love seeing the ink work and then seeing change in look and feel with color. Palm trees on Long Island?

Hi Vivien and Ned.

Keep sketching and learning
Fletch

Hi, Ned!

Fletch, lol for some reason a number of restaurants/bars along the water here have palm trees like the place I sketched. At this time of year they look a bit straggly. I guess they are going for a bit of a tropical feel.

Today, I went out plein air painting with my artist friends at Mahachai, a fishing industry coastal town one hour south of Bangkok.

Thanks all for your comments.

Joan, your shells have delicate color and great lines. The rocks in your scene with the palm tree are pretty cool.

Ned, I like the sound of your new fishing rod adventures. It must be very satisfying to make your own equipment. We could use some of your rain. Baseball takes time. Guess you saw here I'm very disappointed in the SEC route Texas has taken...

Ai, oh look at you. I like your expansive sketch. Great! The fishing boats and the plants are super. Thanks for the photos.

I sketched at PT and my mug from the other day. Number 2 plants with Number 3 mode of transportation. An old Crown Victoria in the parking lot. Rusty gray. I didn't make it long enough. Ha. In the Ohuhu sketchbook with Micron 03, watercolor added at home.
Number 4 mug, my latte cup from a new place near PT in the large Strathmore watercolor sketchbook with pencil, watercolor and Micron pens. White gel pen.

Jo: Thanks so much. Love the mug, and the mode of transportation... the tall tree has beautiful branches.

Joan: Thanks. Beautiful all versions of shells and the rock piece has nice structure details too.

Ai, you really captured so many views of that coastal town. Wow! You are doing so great with all the boats! Love the one of the four boats lined up by the dock. Well done! Thanks for your comments on my work.

Jo, thanks. Good capture of the car hiding behind the tree in the parking lot. Fun to see you sketching a disposable coffee mug. I sometimes wish they would go back to serving coffee in real mugs...but I guess that wouldn't work for take-away. lol

Sneaking one in at the last minute... hope to do more in the next hunt.
#1 single tree

This seemed too intimidating, so I tried anyway... to draw all the branches and twigs it would be a giant scribbly mess but I might try that too sometime ...

Ned, glad you snuck one in!!! Nice work on the single tree. I haven't found a way to get in all the branches and twigs either.:)

Joan, Stephanie, Grapes: Thanks so much.

Ned: Thanks... Very well-done tree. I ditto the same problem, I don't know how to cut certain branches out. You still have wonderful original form.

Fletch:
Thanks so much for hosting.

Ned you did so well on the tree. I think you captured the main branches. Seems like that always works the rest sort of fall into place.

Joan, yes I do like "real" mugs for coffee. We have two places here that use ceramic mugs if you drink there. One is a restaurant with a coffee bar the other is a vegetarian place with coffee. Neither have drive up service so maybe that is the secret. Seems like the actual coffee shops have paper cups.

Fletch thanks for the Hunt. See all y'all on stephanie's Hunt. We will have our Kentucky son, David, and wife, Lisa, here this week so may not sketch much. Maybe I can get David to sketch.

Ai - All 3 are nicely done but really like the composition and shadows in the fishing fretting. That one really calls me,

Jo - Two tough subject in one sketch. Car and barren tree. Both well done. Cool hummingbird cup.

Ned - Great job? Love the soft ink shading.

Thanks to all for sharing your creativity.
Fletch
