Scavenger Hunt from Life #150: Feb 23 -Mar 02.

Joan: Thanks so much. Both of your plein aire are fabuluos. The house, trees, fence, trellis, and the boat house dock with all charming buoys are so well drawn and painted. Love all the ladies in the photo... You have such a great sketch group and cool supportive local business.

Grape: Thanks for your kind words. The Helsinki Airport is amazing with its green garden and your art of it is awesome. I rarely see a sketch done in oil; yours is definitely super. Your urban sketcher group seems very active and fun too.

Ai, I can hear the put-put of your scooters. They looks so good. The bike was special for Gene to see. Your boats on the canal are full of action. And a train. Good find. Yummy food. The ink lines flowers are gorgeous. The lion is fun to see. Thanks for the photos.

Hi Fletch, thanks again.

Joan, the house with the green trees and trim is lovely, I'm always amazed at the picket fences you paint. I like the second house with the deck, boat and all. Fun. The photo is great. Always like "seeing" you.

Grapes, Applause for sketching with oils. Lovely painting and nice to have a garden in the airport.

I sketched in the Conda Sketch Pad, regular paper 8.5 x 11 inches, with a Micron 03.
Number 1 seashells - not from the sea but from our little lakes so not sure if they are seashells, but shells. They were picked up from the drying up lakes by the great-grandsons. The big one was nicely hooked together but put in a bag with rock and ended up broken, very thin. The one in the middle is still hooked together but full of dirt so put them on a napkin to sketch.

Ai, thanks for reposting a clearer version of the lion sketch. Thanks for the comments.

Jo, I like your collection of shells. Glad the great-grands do some collecting of treasures for you.

Joan, nice photo! Glad you found it again and decided to post and show us!

Ai, thanks for the lion sketch! Thank you for your nice comment!

Jo, excellent sea shells! Thanks, the airport is recently renovated and I actually saw it the first time.

#1 plants (pen, colored pencil)
#2 flowers (pen, colored pencil)
#3 a single tree (pencil & eraser) - or so this very tall cactus seemed to all the little potted succulents around it😁

Ai, love the bow wake on the blue boat and like water motion in both boats. Like the impressionist style in train, bridge and temple. Got hooked on sticky rice in Hawaii. Grew up on minute rice which I no longer care for. Nice work! The flowers and statue are excellent! Thought the first lion looked good but now even better!

Grapes, nice find indoors at airport LOL and in oils no less. Still amazes me you ‘sketch’ in oils. Beautiful.

Thanks for photo Joan. All those blondes who had charge of crowd control. *grin

Jo, love the line work. Curious how you get varied line quality with tech pens.

Stephanie, beautiful. The soft colors really catch my eye. Strange as in most media I like strong color and contrast, but these are so soft almost delicate they draw me in. 👍🏽

Keep sketching and learning

Hi Joan and Grapes, thanks so much. Fun shells.

Stephanie, fun to go out with friends to sketch. I like your soft colors and dramatic lines. Cool tall cactus tree.

Fletch, thanks. Usually my varied lines are the pen is running out of ink. Ha. Also I sort of drag the side of the nib, probably wear them out faster. But.....

#6 freespace ...our Thai art teacher mask ceremony. The head of the ceremony, usual is the country renown Khon artist who will lead the long prayers and put the Khon head masks on you, to signify inviting the ancient art teacher spirit to you as an artist. Thai Khon dance, has earned UNESCO cultural recognition. The ceremony applies for Thai performing arts, Thai fine arts, and classical Thai musicians. I attend the event today as an observer. The event was hosted by our faculty of liberal arts in our campus. The Khon head in red elephant head is the symbol of Ganesha, the master head of fine artists. The ceremony is somewhat spirit-inspire and got the root from Hinduism, in India.

I was sketching from way back row and was a bit afraid if someone feels offend at me that I did a sketch during the ceremony. I use a silver marker + pen + watercolors.
