Scavenger Hunt from Life #136: Nov 03 - Nov 11

Joan: Thanks so much. Beautiful caption of fall colours...Your sketches have brighten up my day.

Robin: Thanks... Glorious and charming quadrilateral sketch.

Grapes: Thanks...wonderful beach sketch and lovely tree.

Still busy with works...but find a cute local teashop to sit down a bit...and jotted down their counter decoration....

#4 favorite spot -- Toast Bear Cafe

Robin - Nice sketch. The little cabinet made me smile. Do not see much folk art down here. Was pretty common up north. Always so unique.

Grapes - Great graphite sketches. Especially liked the way you did the bark on the tree. Lots of character.

Joan - You made my wish come true. Added “bright” in hopes there would be some fall colors. Am I reading too much into the second painting? is that an artist working on the same scene?

Ai - Nice pen sketch. You picked ‘favorite spot‘ seeing the sketch before the words I thought it would be ‘entertaining’.😎

Hoping to draw some later
Keep sketching
Fletch

Ai, thanks. I like the chicken and the duck on the counter. That's so cute!

Fletch, glad you were happy seeing the bright fall colors. There are still some colorful spots here and there. You are observant...yes, that is an artist sitting at the table. She was sketching a similar scene.

5 - favorite spot in Bellport - direct watercolor

I actually said "oooooh" out loud when I saw Joan's favorite spot.

Robin -- that cabinet is cute and I like your sketch of it.

Ai -- I hadn't noticed "dull" until Fletch pointed it out and that made me smile. I was in a "Michael's" art store yesterday trying hard not to look at art supplies ( I wanted a rivet to repair a leather camera case... ) and I saw one of those mannequins. I showed restraint by not even looking at the price... Like the quick toast bear cafe pen sketch!

Grapes -- I think your beach spot was colder than mine today. I took off my sweatshirt because I was getting too warm. I like your pencil sketches. And I like how certain details like the limbs in the tree stand out.

Joan -- of course my initial thought was that the man in front would have a fishing rod.... I like the house and I really like the color and depth on the shore. The favorite spot one is really nice!

I was going to try my new colors, and approaching the end of the beach I saw maybe a little "cobalt blue + yellow ochre" and some "cobalt blue+burnt sienna" but when I got to this point in my sketch, I wanted to stop and not add color. So... that can be later :)
