Jade, great work! You are learning fast.🙂 Holy moly, you are zooming along.
Yes, it’s nice to get the blended effects of pencil with solvent, but like you, I cannot handle that stuff either. I think there’s another way, but I have to look into it.

Here is a link for a quick search for blending coloured pencil. I’m not sure if all methods are good for the paper or the materials for longevity, but it is interesting seeing the list. Also, there’s some videos underneath it too. That might be worthwhile to check out.

Thanks for the feedback PaintBoss and appreciate the blending link! ❤️ I'll check that out. As I'm doing this for fun, I'm happy to stay away from solvent. I'm finding using a lighter colour pencil like a white often seems to help too and looking at your list although I didn't know the name for it, I've been burnishing too.

I think I somehow elongated his little body a bit despite using the grid method 🥴 but I like the colours of this one. 💜❤️💛

Love 💕 this one. Doesn't look too long to my eye but it can be because I have a Bengal cat whose body is reeeeally long when she stretches that I'm used to them having long body. Truly liking the strokes, color pencil textures and turn she, esp.her head, does when she looks at you! She looks so alive in this drawing!

Thanks Grapes! ❤️ I couldn't work out what I'd done with the body but decided it looked ok enough in tie end ! 😅

Ooh Bengals are gorgeous! 🐆 What their name? I have a tabby called Bob. Glad you like this, I did like the colours .. a bit different with the purples.

I love the squirrel too, Jade! You made him look so soft and I think the proportions look good. The delicate hairs on the ears are so nicely done.

Ah thanks Donna! It's hard to be objective of your own work, isn't it? Glad you like him. I love drawing the lil furries! 🐿️

Re working on my own versions, Wayne - I think I'm building my confidence slowly but surely. It felt like a bit of a challenge "doing" Bob as I didn't have a tutorial for all the layering but found the different tips I've been picking up came back to me. Practice, practice, practice. We had a little girl cat called squeaks before Bob (very similar looking) who I'll also do for the family tree. 🌳😺😺

I've gotten behind on the threads and new posts/commenting over this weekend, has been gray here.

Precious portrait of your little boy! 💞 He looks so cute! 😻

Trying to get a bit better at fur texture and am quite pleased with the outcome I think. 🐾
