I'm feeling a bit more confident with

I am enjoying myself (and I do get a bit obsessive lol
).. glad you appreciate the ice cream trucks and eagles! Thanks Snoball !Really great pencil practice, Jade. I love the shapes with the internal scenes.![]()

Thanks Donna !I love the bean! What a thoughtful gift - and so very cute!
I have a whole range planned.. next for someone else is a carrot with eyes and a card that say "I carr-ot a lot about you"

After researching it A LOT, this seemed the best option for me/my budget and I think I just need to get used to them.. they feel very different to graphite.
via a Kirsty Partridge tutorial). I mainly want to add some colour to cards for family/friends so I think these will be fine.. just a bit lighter and harder to blend than I imagined but think I need to practice. My second try (
via nadyart) suited them better I think...
I think you might have hit the nail on the head, Wayne. We spend so long looking at these supplies and when we get them, they're still just essentially a coloured pencil (or whatever.) I thought they'd be a bit stronger colour wise but actually when I look at how the expensive ones draw, I think they're quite similar. I like that re finding the right colour ... Back to the paper!Maybe, like me, I think of the cash I put out and I feel I should not have spent so quickly, but the feeling goes away as you realize time is on your side. Look at shading as finding the right color and not so much blending.

& enjoyed doing this. Yes, I watched that.. YT saves you going down a lot of blind ends!
Ooh interesting about the heated surface. Kirsty used solvent on her video which looked great but part of the reason I chose pencils was to keep the faff down so I'm not keen to do that and I'm happy with the results now I'm getting into it anyway. However a hot water bottle under a tray could work and be easy (plus keep my knees warm in winter!) ..

yes ... and that gives you plenty of warm and cool colors to play off each other ..I thought I might have overdone it getting 48 pencils but it's lovely to have lots of shades to play with
