NOVEMBER, 2021 ANIMAL & WILDLIFE CHALLENGE

I really like the texture of the fur, Pat. I like it unfinished, it’s like a study for a painting.

Thank you very much for hosting this month, Penny ! :)

Hello Penny,

Sorry, I forgot to mention the medium.
It's done with black and white charcoal sticks, pencils and powder on Canson's
assorted colours pastel paper. This particular paper is a wonderful orange/brown colour.
Cheers,
Patricia

That’s very interesting, Patricia. I’ve heard of white charcoal but not the powder. It is a lovely drawing.

You are very welcome, Patricia. I’m looking forward to December’s photos.

You are right - white charcoal doesn't come in powder form.
I sharpen a white charcoal pencil until the charcoal is about an inch [2 cm] long
then I grind it into powder with sandpaper into a waiting receptacle. Any large
bits remaining get ground with a hammer ! :)
Sometimes, I grind a white conte stick.
Cheers,
Patricia

Patricia, fantastic work on the hair. I'm so glad you decided to post even if it's not finished. Thanks for telling us a little about your technique.
