Fletch..yeah, the fountain pens do get dry. I carry a small plastic bottle and paper towel….if pen is dry I dip it up and down a couple times and then wipe the tines…. Works every time. If i am at home sometimes i will pit nib under the faucet-( cold water). It can be a bother but nothing compares to the fountain pen experience

Robin: Thanks for the fountain pen tips... is that for stopping them from getting clogged up ? Do I have to dip the nib in the water every a couple days ... if I wont use it for a week? Great to know. Lovely pen dazzling happy color lines on all objects. Great sketch works.

Robin, thanks for the "tips". Ha. Really. I like the metal stand, the tree and a perfect rocker. Hope you have the best of holidays.

Ai, thanks. The duck is always fun to sketch.

Jo, thank you. I saw signs for Bus-ee's when we were driving back and forth to Atlanta...maybe in Tennessee. Didn't stop but I noticed the BBQ sign. lol

Robin, I love your style of sketching...these are so fun. I love all the details on the rocker as well as the hatching. I usually just rinse the nibs on my pens and usually they keep on working. My hands are a mess, but the nibs are fine. :)

Joan, thanks for the reminder. I was so sure I had looked and signed up for the "new" Hunt. Guess I was dreaming.

Ai thanks again for this Hunt.

I did sketch today at my footstool in the travel size Strathmore watercolor sketchbook.
Number 4 Holiday treat - I made peanut butter cookies today
Number 5 decoration - some on the tree (a silver ball, red ball, brass lottery and Texas capitol in gold)

Joan - Never saw the Long Island duck with Christmas decorations. Pretty cool and well rendered. The view of Lake Ronkonkoma reads cold and wintery.

Robin - DING! In under the bell.😎. Love the hatching. Rockers can be intimidating with all the negative spaces. I have been putting nibs under warm water. Is cold water better? Just got some sample inks from Goulet Pens so going to try which ones are really waterproof and also see if it is the pens or the ink that cause drying and clogging. Two Lamy pens and the new Platinum have not dried at all so am curious if it is the pens or the ink. Interestingly the two drying out have screw on caps with no seal but the threads. The Lamys and the Platinum are push on caps with o rings.
Tech pens are quick and easy to use but you have to change pens to vary the line quality. Fountain pens are like pencils in that you can vary the line quality with pressure.

Jo - The cookies look yummy. The hatching on the ornaments is great and the pine needles are super.

Keep sketching
Fletch

Jo, glad to remind you... Nice work on the cookies. It is almost 10 AM here and I just finished baking my raspberry pinwheel cookies. I sketched the setup while the trays were going in the oven and they will be in the next hunt. I like your cookie tin with the yummy-looking cookies inside. Good ink sketch of some of your tree decorations.

Fletch, I love how they decorate the Big Duck. Maybe next year I'll get out there when they do the actual "duck lighting." It got a bit colder here and we had some snow yesterday (which melted pretty quickly), but woke up to a light covering of white on everything. This will stay put because it isn't supposed to get above freezing most of the weekend.

Jo: Wonderful cookies... Fantastic line hatching for all the ornaments. So festive.

Joan: Wow... to the beautiful snow.

All: Thanks for joining this Hunt. See you in the next Hunt.

Ai - Thanks for hosting.

Joan - That is how I like snow…in pictures! We can sympathize a bit as cold front passing through. Woke up to 50° and forecasted high is 69°. We debated turning heat on this morning. Went with sweats and heavy socks vice usual barefoot and shorts.😊 Good news is we go back to high 70s or low 80s starting Monday
