Scavenger Hunt from Life #159: May 6 - May 14

Ai, thanks. I will have to come up with an interesting painting to do on the piece...something to do with the water for sure.

Last night a friend gave me a gardenia blossom from her garden. It's perfect in a small bud vase.

Joan, maybe you will get by an Enterprise place or find a spaceship in a museum before this Hunt is over. I can't imagine they rent many cars here, except when cars are in the shop for repairs. Ha. Love your waterscape. The dock is so interesting and beautiful sky and just beautiful all. The bud in vase is fun and gorgeous, too. Good luck with the museum piece.

Ai, thanks. Well the spaceship in Houston is about 160 miles so not a drive by. Ha. The SpaceX and that stuff near El Paso about 700 miles. Tee tee.

Ai, although I know where I can find an actual spaceship it is inside a museum that is not nearby. I'll have to figure out something. I like the decorative crown you found. Nicely done. Good decorative work on the legs of the coffee server. Looks like something you would need to polish, so it definitely isn't something I would use. lol

Ai, clever finds in spaceship shapes. The coffee server is lovely. Fun to see the ideas.

Happy hunting all

Wow time really is flying. I went to Berkeley today and saw my team win against #2 Florida State ( Jo's team is currently #1 in the country! ) Hope to find sketching time tomorrow or Monday.

I thought I already commented but I must have just looked. Great contributions!

Joan -- the sky and reflections in that waterscape are wonderful. Also I like how the contrast makes the office supplies "pop"!
Robin -- love the indoor sketch will all the items... and spaceship earth made me smile!
Ai -- yay another "spaceship"! love the colors at the dimsum place.
Jo -- haha! Good for you enterprise car rental. I was thinking of the star trek ship :).... I actually went to target to see if they had an enterprise toy but they didn't. They had a lego "millennium falcon" from star wars but it was $75 so I passed....

Ai, love the proctoring sketch. It is great that you always have a number of people around to sketch.

Ned, thanks...still searching for items for the hunt. Hopefully I will find a few more when I'm out today.

To those celebrating today, Happy Mother's Day!

Well I know I went through and wrote comments Friday but do not see them here and have no copy so am with you Ned!

Robin, love the tea pot but also like the hand holding the bracelet. Great kitchen sketch! Even in perspective! Globe for a space ship is a great find! Yummy nuts. Dried apple needs to be dipped in nut butter!

Ai, dragon fruit looks ready to eat as does the Dimsum. Tough to catch people in action. Like the line work on the tree. Style looks a lot like Jo’s. Crown and massager both have space ship shapes. Do your students know they are part time models. You really captured the feel of the Library.

Joan, you can always get my eye with a widow watch or a flag. The supplies is disarrayed enough to look like my desktop. Waterscape is simply beautiful. Be a great subject for the sail canvas. Super digi. Your bud vase looks like a champagne flute. Like the shading on the nose and line work with the pen.

Jo, you can stop complaining now about how hard cars are to draw as you obviously figured out how to capture them.

#1 left hand - 2B clutch pencil in one of last pages in my hardbound A5ish sketchbook. Only e pages left.

Keep sketching and learning
Fletch

Ai, what a pretty looking library. Your chair looks great! Mine usually look like a hazard for someone to sit on. lol

Fletch, glad to see you were able to get your hand sketched. Nice shading on it and nice positioning.

My friend and I went to the Peconic River Herb Farm this afternoon. I've been there many times but this was her first time there, but definitely not her last. I've never seen it as crowded as it was today. Lots of families were picnicking on the grounds. It looked like it could have been an outdoor concert. We both concentrated on this log house on the property. People actually live in it. I sketched it once before from the other side, but this side was a nice view too. I even included the flag for Jo.

Joan: Thanks for sweet words of Mother Day. You are kind to many people too and also your community. Hugs to you too. What a marvelous sketch of the house. You did superb work on all. I esp. like how you do roof shingles, stairs, front porch chairs & tables... and the super cute flag. The light and shade are also awesome.

Fletch: Thanks... What a fantastic hand sketch. It is a perfect hand in 3D.

Ned and all: Thanks.

Fletch: BTW, most of my students did not know that I sketched them but I generally sketch from far-side or far-back.

Ai, I think hazelnuts are my favorite. I like your lines on them Yummy. You capture the serious studious look of the students, hard from behind. The library sketch is great with interesting set up exhibits.

Joan, you have a strong nose. It is nice and straight. Great sketching of the right hand in use. I like the market sketch with vendors, visitors and cars!! The Herb Farm is so outstanding as Ai said. Thanks for the flag!!

Hey, Ned. Yay on beating Florida State! Horns lost again today. They have to win in Oklahoma this next weekend to stay alone in first. Arkansas and LSU on the Hunt! Awww, too bad you didn't find an Enterprise. You have a couple of days, yet. Evil grin.

Fletch, the hand is mah-ve-lous as the ritzy say. Lovely shadows and lines. My car was ok but looks more like the old El Camino or Ranchero instead of a modern sedan. Ha. Thanks.

Belated Mother's Day to all from Texas. We had a good day.

Ai, thanks so much. You must have enough sketches of your students taking exams to make a book. lol

Jo, thanks. It is funny that when I was doing the last sketch I left out the flag. Luckily I keep a tube of white gouache with my sketching supplies. It definitely helped me reclaim that space. I don't know how I can leave out such very obvious parts. lol
