Welcome to the Scavenger Hunts from Life.
The Hunts were started in 2006 by Jamie Williams Grossman as a way to practice with prompts. Artists have come and gone while forming some lasting friendships. We hope you will join in and tune up your sketching skills. All levels and techniques are welcome. We hope you can have some good times here. You can travel the world seeing the sketches of items at hand by the artists.

If you’ve participated in at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one we would really appreciate it. You can sign up by posting your name on the current hosting schedule in the Art From Life forum here:
https://creativespark.art/threads/scavenger-hunt-from-life-host-sign-up-list.2481/

Here are the rules for the Hunt:
*All everyday common items on the list must be sketched from life – not imagination or photo reference.
*Each object you draw can count for only one item on the listless, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed on by unanimous vote among the participants.
*You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count these objects as separate items, but no single object can count for more than one item.
*All items posted must be numbered. Count them as you go. The first item you post will be #1 regardless of its place on the list. Do them in whatever order you wish, but count them in the order in which you sketch them, from 1 to 26.
*Do as many or as few of the items as you like. You don’t have to finish the entire list to participate. The Scavenger Hunt “week” will last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.
*Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you for each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are welcome.
*Have fun!
*** If you have some hunt sketches completed but little time to read/comment, please post your sketches anyway. Commenting is appreciated but not required

Ai - That definitely looks soft and delicious. What yummy things make it?

Joe

Joe, thanks for the new list!!

Ai, love the sweets, makes me want some. I like the deer sculpture and the way you captured it in the different techniques. Applause!!

Sylwia, love the blue candy wrappers. Taffy inside?

Ai, lovely watercolors of the glass and snack. Tapas, yummmmm.

Hi, joe1lt.

I sketched on the porch. It is warm again today. Gene thought he would need the flannel shirt. Didn't. Sketched in the Ohuhu book with a plan to put on color, but ..... Used the Micron 02 that is about gone.

Joe, thanks for the new list. I'm already a bit behind.

Ai, the sweets look yummy and I don't even like coconut. lol I like your sketches of the deer sculpture. The blind contour made me smile...the antlers must have been a challenge. :) Nice glass and tapas. This thread is making me hungry.

Sylwia, those treats look nice. The wrappers remind me of the salt water taffy candies they usually sell for some reason at seaside shops.

Jo, the softness of the flannel shows nicely and the texture of the chair too.

1 - wooden barn - direct watercolors

Taffy inside?
No, no Taffy inside. I need to google to see what a Taffy is, so I can learn something new. :) My sweets are dried plums covered with chocolate. I was too lazy to depict all the details from wrapping paper.

Wonderful sketches AI. I like the glass, and I guess it's beer?

Jo nice hatching. Looks good without colour too.

Superb watercolours Joan. I like the Spruce trees with all green tones in firs one.

#2 hard – pistachio – gouache in 19 × 14 cm watercolour book

Thanks all, for your kind comments/likes on my sketches.

Jo: Super job on the shirt and the bench. I can feel its thickness and softness.

Sylwia: Fantastic taffy alike packages and the pistachio

Joan: Amazing X'mas scene with pines and beautiful people.

Sylwia - Love the soft blends in the candy and the shading. I like chocolate covered raisins or almonds. Pistachios are well done an this hunt is definitely making me hungry.
.
Ai - the tapas remind me of stuffed mushrooms which we have not had in a while.making me hungry. Hua Hin looks very quaint with all the old shops. What’s a Danish Guesthouse? Is it a tourist Inn?

Jo - Great hatching on the shirt and wood grain.

Joan - two pretty cityscapes. Both look framable.

Keep sketching
Joe

Joe: Yes, in Thailand, we don't use the words Inn as much... For hotel-alike of our tourism industry, we use words like hotel, guesthouse, hostel, resort to mean of variety of places of stay for tourists. The Danish part must be the owner of the guesthouse is Danish, so they might provide more specific extra danish items at the guesthouse, like food or books.

Sylwia: Yes, the liquid was beer...
