Drawing Practice ✏️

Thank you Wayne. I think the inktense aren't really working for me, maybe I'll try again but drawing animals seems to be where my heart is so back to that to keep developing. I really get in the zone so it's not a chore. I know you know what I mean.

That’s adorable, Jade! It’s ok about the inktense - they will be there when you feel like using them another time. You shouldn’t feel like you have to force yourself to use them; life’s too short.

Thank you Donna! That's it isn't it? I was a bit as I got them and a present from my hubby and then he noticed and I realised too so we put them away for now. Maybe I'll try again or maybe sell them.. we'll see.

Ps hope your one handed activities are going ok! 😅

..if your heart isn’t there, don’t stay there. You have to be you. You don’t have to imitate anyone or thing, you just need to do what you love to do and all else will fall into place. Give hubby a hug. He knows it’s not that you don’t appreciate the gift; they just are not you. I got about $150.00 or more of charcoal supplies that I will gift to a local. Bought it all so I’d have what I needed but I don’t like the medium. A mistake but my mistake will make someone else happy. Enjoy what you do, time is short.

Exactly Wayne. It's weird with fibromyalgia, my body literally tells me it doesn't want to do something now and that happened with those. Quite handy really!

Haha .. I hugged hubby and he understands. He said he could see how happy drawing made me in comparison and it was fun to draw the dog today. And I completely agree re life being too short. I wanted to give it a fair shot and I think I have but as you said, someone else will benefit so it's all good 🙏

Jade, both last ones the cat and this cute dog with a hat would also make a good couple. Your animals are interesting and adorable. 😺 🐶
Interesting to hear what say about intense. Same thing happened to me recently with my new gouaches.

Jade, I, too, have struggled with Inktense. Anne really does well with them. I am using them sparingly for brightly colored things and initial layers. They are also good for details.

Thank you. 🙏 I like your idea of doing a couple, Grapes ❤️ I'll have to try that. Interesting about gouache for you. I guess it's finding the mediums that suit us and what we like creating.

Thanks for sharing your inktense experiences Joy. I love Anne's work, it really suits it. I'll bear in mind using them for layers and details...

This… drawing practice… is something I should be doing as I haven’t done any drawing or painting for nearly a year…excluding what I do as an art teacher. 😠 The problem is until I get my studio set up in the basement I’ll need to work quite small… something I haven’t done for years.

I have to laugh… I took a look on Amazon at drawing easels that I could work on until I get the basement studio up and running. One easel was advertised as “Xtra Large” measuring 26x21”. So what does that make most of my work at 35”+ by 5-“+… or even 80 x48”?

Remember that Amazon is for the general public, not an specialist store. I often find it wanting in non- mass.produced, mass-demanded quality or specialist goods.

Regardless, that's why I took to always carry a flexible pocket A6 sketchbook and a small (say, 2000's-style) leather phone sleeve with several clutch pencils with various leads: so I can always pop it up and sketch something in a hurry (rarely have more than a few minutes to spare).

Notwithstanding, I have had a bad year for various overlapping reasons and have only made some odd sporadic sketches, so that is not a definitive solution either, but it does really help. That's one of my new year goals: restart the at least one 5 minute sketch a day routine.
