Drawing Practice ✏️

Hi all,

I had my "Cats" thread and Journalling and Sketchbooks but thought I'd move over here to join fellow "draw-ers" and share my practice.

One more for today. Tutorial by Hana arte on YT.
one of the better human faces I've done (I usually prefer drawing furry faces lol). I think some proportions are a bit off despite good instructions but interesting to play with shadows and a different topic.

The locations within the face are off slightly but that will come with your experience. With your determination you will do fine.

Thanks Wayne. I agree. I don't really think of myself as determined but I guess I can be! Enjoying the process helps.

So I think Wayne helped me tap into my determined side and I just did this which I'm pleased with (all HB pencil via Ali Hader on YT). turns out a grid system helps massively! My new pencils arrive in the next few days too!

Placement is a lot closer now watch you sizes .. IE .. eyes .. I know they are never equal sizes but closer is good and the center of the nose should line up with the center of the lips. Nit picking but it's for the purpose of help and not critique. I am enjoying your foray into the unknown.

Thanks Wayne. It's good to learn these tips.. they all help! I know.. Even though I'm the one doing it , it's interesting watching things develop in terms of learning all the components and putting them together. Appreciate your time (you give feedback like my husband and he's the best person I know). ps Ali Hader has a step by step portrait of Taylor Swift I'm going to try next.

Mr Miyagi Says your placements are very similar to last time. Go back, do not pass go, do not collect $200.00. Make a grid on clear plastic and put it over your drawing. That will show you where you are off the line. A vertical line should pass through the center of the noes, eyes, and lips. With the position of the face a horizontal should pass through the center of the eyes. You will also be able to compare the eyes. You are doing good grasshopper but you are jumping before you see a landing place.
