Hi Mr M! you're right. Frustrating, as I actually followed a video with all the placements.. I must have a way of doing eyes that's a bit wonky need to work on that.. I've hit a wall today with finding YouTube tutorials re what to do next so I'll redo these two. Also, the first time doing indentations for hair and need to refine that. On the plus side, I have 12 grades of pencils now. See you soon! Grasshopper

PPS any tips on proportions techniques ? I really liked the grid method for Wednesday Adams but it didn't feel so good with Taylor. Maybe I'll try Loomis..

Hi Wayne, if you don't mind, I thought I'd drop these here for Wednesday Adams to see if you have any feedback on my outline (bottom) before I start again... I've watched the video you sent, really useful exercises. I can see I need to think about light and shadow rather than just copying them..

Hello Jade .. I wouldn't be much help as I eyeball things and seem to know when the lines don't meet. I do know that the horizontal line would pass through the center of the eyes and the vertical would pass through the center of the space between the eyes down trough the middle of the mouth, nose, and chin so the cross shape on the same angle as your face would tell you if you were off in your placements. Not hard and fast rules but a guide.

Hi Donna I did ponder today why I've thrown myself in the deep end with faces lol! I did another Wednesday Adams today with more pencils but actually preferred the last one with one cheap pencil. I'll keep going..

I'm watching Sylvie Mandhal on YT currently.. amazing work. I like her light handed approach. I think I prefer animals on the whole but I'd like to get to grips with humans a bit more before I move on.

Here's a few other little things I've been up to.. Sylvie M for #1 and Titatu pencil for the rest.

Nice work, Jade. I love the turtle! I hope you’re not discouraged about drawing faces. They’re just a bunch of shapes put together in various combinations and not all that different from landscapes. If you can draw a rolling hill you can draw a nose (but with landscapes there’s a little more freedom to move the elements around, haha.)

Yeh, it's beginning to become easier to see the mistakes. think I'll go back and keep working on it. I think I'm trusting the grid lines too much and need to use my eye too

Yes. The head is slightly tilted so the eye line has to follow the same path. Your eyes are perfectly horizontal and they should have a slight angle.
