I'll be posting 24 Christmas paintings in December to this thread.
Join me to paint Christmas paintings starting December, 1st.
December is only two weeks away but there's still little time to get ready. Time flies so fast.
As I'll be focusing on painting there will be no host nor is this an official challenge. Just paint, post, and if you like you can mention the medium, size and some background of the painting.
The paintings can be alla prima sketches, paintings from life, daily paintings, drawings, wip's etc. or even old still life paintings - paintings that somehow are associated to Christmas.
The idea is to post 24/25 paintings but you can of course post fewer.
What an awesome idea Grapes! I know people quite busy in the lead up to Christmas, but it would be great seeing Christmasy art coming in. Iβll try to get something submitted.
Thanks Grapes! I just may do that -although theyβre not all still life or botanicals.
Your Nov. cactus is looking good! I found pink always interesting and a little more difficult to work with. First, you have to punch it up sometimes to get intensity, just like you were able to do, but itβs the shadows for pink that always are a little tricky for me. One of the biggest things I had to decide was whether I was trying to keep it cool or make it a warm pallet. That made a big difference in how I tried to show depth or shadows.
Well, I may be a little early, but Iβm happy to help kick it off with this little happy face. This was my daughtersβs beloved bunny, and I made it for her a few years ago for Christmas. Acrylic and ink pen on wood.
If you have many cards painted the past yrs. you better start posting I myself will be in trouble finding 24 to post.
The frame actually is quite exquisite, the colors, love the Christmas Hat! and bunny.
Grapes, I love your festive little paintings! Bells are such seasonal subjects and you do them well. Those cactus flowers must be a real challenge but I know youβll pull this off!
Christine, precious bunny! What a special little ornament! It would be nice to see the cards youβve made!
PaintBoss, you are so good inspiration! Love these cards. The Reindeer is sooo cute . Christmas balls and the church window are excellent begin to December posting! I like the composition in both.
I've had trouble painting - kinda stuck so this is really good motivation! Thank you!
Thank you so much. They were my beginner steps. All I can recommend is keep small because itβs doable and keep trying -you get faster and better as you go.
This is a great idea, Grapes! I will definitely be involved with this. I have a few decorations from life and some cards that Iβve done and hopefully paint some more. I love your bells and your Christmas cactus flower looks challenging for sure.
PaintBoss love your cards, so vibrant and well done.
Grapes: Sometimes it sure feels like that. I think all your work looks great. But I sure understand that sometimes it feels like pulling teeth. Been feeling rough around the edges too and I think itβs because I havenβt painted or done anything for so long. I just have to do more. Sanlynn:: Thank you!
Beautiful cards, Christine! The stained glass look is wonderful! I never made this little pastel piece into a card but I still have it so maybe someday.
What a fabulous painting, Donna! The colours and reflections work so well. I guess youβd have to photograph it to make cards otherwise the pastel would smudge?
Thanks Christine and Sanlynn. Itβs a tiny painting, maybe 3x3 in. and I would have to make a photo of it fit on a card - which is why itβs still packed away. Iβm sure it could be done if I asked the computer-savvy young people in my family for help. I would have to tolerate some eye rolling but the cards might be worth it!
