Also, that's a lovely tulip painting. The blue with the gold really stands out.
Primary colors… red 9in the linear areas, blue, and yellow/gold. My wife used to ask why I seldom ever painted any blondes… although she’s a brunette. I told her honestly it was because blonde hair didn’t contrast enough with the gold leaf behind.
Kushner is one of the contemporary painters who has had a large impact on my own work. Like myself, Kushner was profoundly influenced by Asian and Middle-Eastern art and came to recognize how elements such as pattern and “decoration” which are frequently dismissed by Western Modernist critics was embraced by these cultures.

I did have a basic sketch made beforehand from a previous year's photo which was a good idea except that last year there was water in the pond. Now drought had caused my scene to become half of what it was supposed to be. No reflections. Mud. So I started with what was there......the far shore.
I think the foliage is promising, very interesting.
We live in the highlands, and you would not believe how windy it gets here, and often. ...many factors have stopped us from having a dog. Can't be a small dog, but Hannah didn't want a large one, so we compromised a bit. She's 45 pounds. Hopefully, most prey will leave her alone on walks. I will still carry a big "stick" with us. My cane is pretty deadly.
