All three struck me as far more “open” and airy than works by his imitators. They also had an elegance and a sense of motion… like you could feel the dancing movements from which they were created and clearly illustrated the term “Action Painting”.
I remember the one in the Met now. I also still don't recall seeing the one at MOMA. I see the dancing you speak of, but I'm still not into it. I prefer the palette of the MOMA one, but I'd be lying if I said I changed my mind, even after closer study.
