Scavenger Hunt from Life #147: Jan 30 - Feb 7

Fletch, I like the table legs with the stack of books so nice next to it. The ink gives the wood a nice grain look to it. I like it! Thanks for your comments. The antiques store did a brisk business while I was sitting in my car sketching. Of course they came out and took some of my favorite items away before I got to sketch them. There was a nice fur coat on a standing rack that I wanted to sketch.

Jo, luckily I bought a few almond biscotti along with the Napoleon. They didn't disappoint. lol I had to smile at the smiley balloon...you did the wrinkles well! Good sketch of the store with the view of the car included.

I got 2 sketched
1. Old - "Reject Kiwi" - those of you from WC may remember my "Reject Kiwi". He was a little toy Kiwi from a shop who was going to be thrown out, as he had only one foot and a strange beak. I saved him and I still have him all these years later. Hes very old now!
2. Yellow Flower from my garden - Gladiola

As a footnote to my drawing of "Reject Kiwi" - Ive kept many of my old sketches from WC. So I thought Id have a look through them, to see if I could find my previous drawings of him. And i found him on "WC Scavenger Hunt 247 - November 2011" So Ive been drawing him for a very long time!

Vivien, you made me smile.....nice, lovely memories. You have been with the Hunts a long time. Love the Kiwi and the flower is gorgeous.

Ai, your fallen flowers are beautiful. I like the lines and shadows.

Going to lunch with a friend from high school and his wife. We found out a few years ago that they live about 80 miles from here so we meet in the middle once in a while. We didn't know her until recently. She's fun and patient to listen to all our old stories over and over. That was 60+ years ago. Yikes.....

Vivien, how great that you are still sketching "reject Kiwi" nearly 14 years later. :) Love the yellows in your glads. They always remind me of church processions when we were in Catholic school as kids. We always carried them. I haven't been over to WetCanvas in a long time. I think it is really wonderful that so many of us from over there still get to see the artwork we are all doing now. I should go over and check out some of my old posts, but if I remember correctly a lot of the very early ones were lost due to some malfunction in the site. Every once in a while I think about people that disappeared from over there.

Ai, nice to see your sketches of the fallen flowers. Lovely curves to the petals. How nice that would be here now. This morning we have a light covering of snow that is supposed to change to freezing rain. Maybe I'll be staying in today. lol

Jo, how fun that you have a friend from way back when that lives close enough to get together for lunch...and that you enjoy being with his wife too.
Our sketch group did a Valentine theme last night.

Jo: Thanks... Have fun with the reunion. Wow...60 years...

Viv: Thanks.... Wonderful memory of the Reject Kiwi, and a great sketch of it indeed. Beautiful Gladi.

Joan:
Thanks.... What a fabulous red candies and flowers for the upcoming celebration. Bonus for your "Love" lettering detail on the box of candies. The ink sketch of the brewery is super. The "Place" is stunning. I love your foreground water reflection. I can just feel the wind softly blowing over that water surface, reflecting the sun on it. Love them all.

Other & lookers: Thanks for your support. Pls. feel free to sketch something in, for this Hunt or in our future Hunt.

You still have time to sketch for this hunt but I am posting early for those of you who are on the other side of the world. :)

The next hunt can be found here.

Joan, thanks it was a good lunch and fun. I love your valentine assortment. So beautiful. The landscape is perfect for this cold weather with the dry vegetation and the colorful stormy sky. Great of the brewery. Love the bricks and details, kegs, etc.

Ai, yep hard to believe. We could talk about high school then about doctor visits. Ha.

Ai thanks so much for this Hunt and Joan for the next one!

I sketched on my footstool on my iPad with the app ArtRage for the metal look.
Number 7 treat - well the treat wrapper I ate the peanut butter/chocolate Dove piece. Evil grin.

Jo, lol That wrapper's message seems like it is more appropriate for a Dove soap bar. I forget they have Dove chocolates too. Good sketch.

Vivien - love Reject Kiwi. Almost 15 years of drawing the little guy is pretty special. The. Gladiola is beautiful. Great shading of tones.

Ai - While trying to put shadow under the table with ink I kept thinking graphite is really perfect for shade and shadows. Your flowers prove my idea.nicely rendered.

Joan - Very dramatic sky and very pro valentines items. The Brewery is great.

Jo - well your metal wrapper glows.

Keep sketching and learning
Fletch
