It has morphed from 'pretty' bird looking out a wonderful to a garden with wild birds looking in. It wasn't working.

You are very kind. Would you mind answering a question? Just ignore if it's not something you're not comfortable with. Would a greater range of depth in some of the top dark areas?

I'm not clear on your question regarding a greater range of depth. In any case, I think that only the artist can decide on a piece like this!
