What art supplies have you bought recently?

Oh man Terri my wife would kill me....🤣
To demonstrate how fabulous my husband is, he knows I have a bad back and too much crawling around on the floor and scrubbing would not have helped. So I rounded up the cleaner and the rags and paper towels and did a test, then he did most of the scrubbing. ❤️

(And then laughed out loud when I said I needed to buy the replacement color!) ;)

There is a paper craft party art wedding supply store near me that is closing. The owner is retiring. They have put their remaining stock on final markdown and I got some great deals. I bought most of their remaining paper, consisting of Arches WC cp & hp 140lb twelve full sheets each at $2.87ea., Arches WC hp 300lb fourteen full sheets at $4.25ea., Fabriano Artistico cp & hp 140lb eight full sheets each at $2.60 ea., Rives BFK 90lb seventeen sheets at $3ea., and Sonehenge 90lb twenty three sheets at $2.87ea. I also purchased the rack that the paper was in for $20. They had Tombow Mono, Cretacolor and Turquoise pencils discounted to $.68 ea., and I bought forty of them. Prismacolor pencils were marked down to $.68 but I have several thousand already. I did purchase eleven Golden Acrylics cadmium heavy body colors for $3.48ea. and nine Liquitex cadmiums for $3.27ea. The store was very busy, however the whole time I was in there, I was the only one in the art dept. I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing....

Strolling through Hobby Lobby, grabbed a pad of W/C paper, 18x24, 50% off....I like having it on hand for the Inktense, or markers or watercolor brush stuff.
Also stopped at Michael's and got some two part epoxy and turquoise powder as I've recently started power carving bowls and trays. The cracks become neat little accents when filled with a tinted food safe epoxy resin...

*Restocking - except for the drawing stuff. I'm making a commitment from now on to draw/sketch every day. So I bought some decent supplies to motivate me and make it enjoyable.

*some small plastic jars at the dollar to keep leftover paint - an upgrade from those flimsy condiment cups I was using.

*This "paintbox" thingie - has 24 small wells to keep paint airtight - going to use if for Plein air

*A 4'x8' sheet of hardboard from homedepot - to be cut into painting panels

*and a can of Rustoleum Auto Primer Spray paint (don't ask) 😑

oh - and a really fine quality bib apron to wear when painting. I got a nice one so I'll wear it and so it'll last. Came today and ironically it's probably the only piece of clothing I own that doesn't have paint on it. (yet)

Aww, he sounds like a gem!

When I was first dating my husband I lived by the sea. When he came to my place for the first time a HUGE splat of seagull poo hit the lounge window while we were sitting in there. He immediately insisted on going out and cleaning it off before it 'set'. I knew he was a keeper then!

Bongo, you got a great deal paying only $176 for all that stuff. I don't think I get away from Blick, Jerry's, Rex, or anywhere else for less than that when I make a purchase. Although recently, they've been like $60 purchases because I keep buying a couple colors at a time. I think I need one thing, then discover I need more of something else. Now I need more of that Gamblin Solvent-free Gel Medium. I am waiting until I need a few more things though, so I can get free shipping of course.

I once got an apron only to realize I never needed one. I think I have gotten paint on my clothes three times in the last 10 years. Though, I recently got some on the ceiling twice in two days from turning a huge canvas on the easel.

I got some more great deals:

Sonehenge paper forty six 22x30 sheets $1.25ea.
Fabriano Artistico paper twenty seven 22x30 140lb sheets $1.25ea.
Arches paper twenty five 22x30 300lb sheets $4.00ea.
Arches paper thirty one 22x30 140lb sheets $1.25 ea.
Cretacolor assorted pencils Nero, charcoal, graphite and pastel six dozen+ total $.45ea. (They also threw in the display rack for free).
Tombow Mono pencils nineteen assorted grades $.45ea.
Gamsol eight 33.8oz bottles $4.50ea.
Winsor Newton spray varnishes and fixative five cans $2.25ea.
Canson Ingres paper fifty sheets $.29ea. (I tried to buy the display rack but it was spoken for).
Artist tape seven rolls $2.25ea.
Winsor Newton stretched canvases five 16x20 for $5ea.
Archival double mats (forgot the brand name) twelve size 8x10 for $1.95 ea.

Thank you. That's the nice thing about shopping in actual brick and mortar stores, the clearance areas! Yesterday I bought two 24-pan sets of Derwent Inktense pans. The outsides were dirty, scratched and there was no packaging. Inside, everything was pristine. They were marked down to $24.95each.

I made a good purchase today: I purchased

Nine Hangman Picture Hanging System pkgs. rated for 200lbs. at $2.99ea.,
Six Hangman Systems rated for 100lbs. at $2.24ea.,
Twenty two Large D-ring sets at $.69ea.
Eighteen various Moore picture hangers (small lightweight) for $.37ea.
Seventy five precut mats sizes 5x7 to 12x16 $.37 to $1.24ea.
Two Sennelier Universal Medium 75ml at $3.45ea.
Six WN wc cadmiums 14ml at $3.22ea.
One Krylon Conservation Retouch Varnish at $1.15.
Thirty six Cretacolor Charcoal Pencils at $.48ea.
Four rolls of LineCo Linen Hanging Tape at $3.37ea.

All clearance, markdown and closeout.

Thank you Ayin! I have to do a bit of driving, but once I get to the general area, there are several stores w/in 20-30min of *that* area... Then another fantastic one about sixty miles out +/-. Art, hobby and thrift stores... I have never bought art supplies online, only in person.

The nearest Hobby Lobby near me is about an hour and I was so used to Blick and many other stores in LA before I moved out here. When I made the trek to Hobby Lobby I was so disappointed not to be able to get what I was looking for, I went back to ordering on line. I make sure I order enough to always get free shipping at least. What this place needs is an art supply store like nobody's business. There are so many artists here, it's a surprise there isn't one. Not even a JoAnnes.
