Welcome to the Scavenger Hunts from Life.
The Hunts were started in 2006 by Jamie Williams Grossman as a way to practice with prompts. Artists have come and gone while forming some lasting friendships. We hope you will join in and tune up your sketching skills. All levels and techniques are welcome. We hope you can have some good times here. You can travel the world seeing the sketches of items at hand by the artists.

If you’ve participated in at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one we would really appreciate it. You can sign up by posting your name on the current hosting schedule in the Art From Life forum here:
https://creativespark.art/threads/scavenger-hunt-from-life-host-sign-up-list.2481/

Here are the rules for the Hunt:
*All everyday common items on the list must be sketched from life – not imagination or photo reference.
*Each object you draw can count for only one item on the listless, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed on by unanimous vote among the participants.
*You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count these objects as separate items, but no single object can count for more than one item.
*All items posted must be numbered. Count them as you go. The first item you post will be #1 regardless of its place on the list. Do them in whatever order you wish, but count them in the order in which you sketch them, from 1 to 26.
*Do as many or as few of the items as you like. You don’t have to finish the entire list to participate. The Scavenger Hunt “week” will last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.
*Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you for each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are welcome.
*Have fun!
*** If you have some hunt sketches completed but little time to read/comment, please post your sketches anyway. Commenting is appreciated but not required!

The list of one word song titles is recycled from April 2020. Play along and sing along. Substitutes are welcome, try to keep close to the item or singer or even the year. Have fun!

Jo, thanks for the new fun list! Now some of these songs will be rattling around in my head all day. lol

Paul, happy to oblige.

Joan, someone made a playlist on spotify or someplace. I looked on wetcanvas to see if I could find the post but that Hunt 631 isn't there, got lost in the change I guess. I don't know how to make a playlist. Just have to look up the songs one by one. Ha. Maybe it was NedL??

Well saw Tequila and the joke popped into my head so…
#1 Tequila -1 tequila 2 tequila 3 tequila Floor.

Screwed up the perspective but was fun,

Keep sketching
Joe

A duck walks into a bar and asks for a shot of tequila. The bartender asks, “Should I put it on your tab?” The duck goes, “no, put it on my bill.”

Sorry couldn't resist

Joe, congrats on being first. Great association, I see the relationship. Nice design and perspective looks pretty good to me.

Joan, I like your downtown. Nice lines and colors on the church. Joan, I like margaritas soooo much. I do like to sip on a shot of good tequila, especially when it is cold outside.

Paul .... groan..... Ha.

We had company yesterday .. see how it goes today.

I did about a 10 minute sketch... obligatory. Ha.

Number 1 Tiger, we have no cat anything. I did find this little whistle that is cat like. Burned so not much color left. On the wiped off tree paper with whatever pastels. About 5 x 5 in.

I think it was from Peru.

Jo, I haven't had a margarita in a very long time...maybe back when we were down in Texas and saw you. lol I think I had a few on that trip, but for some reason I never have them up here. Does that cat whistle qualify as an ocarina? I have one in the shape of a turtle somewhere.

One of my art associations is doing a sketchbook project, so I started a new 5.5 x 5.5 in sketchbook. Each artist will fill their sketchbook and then they are going to become a special permanent section in the library in Brookhaven where the public can come in an look at them, but not check them out.

2 - ONE path thru the dunes - direct watercolor

Cool tequila drawing and jokes, Joe & Paul.
Joan
, that is a beautiful building sketch. I would love to have a margarita with you... I think I did one sketchbook Project, and left it in a library in Brooklyn. I went there to check the collection out 10 years ago. Your sketchbook will be a great treature to the library.

I'm slow in art here... as more works rolling in ... and try to prepare for the US trip later next week. It is too bad I will have no time to fly to see anyone in the States. Just hanging out with my in-law family in ATL.

Joan, thanks, good memories of San Antonio. Love this little sketchbook sketch of Smith Point Beach. We could drink some margaritas there!

Ai, hope you have a fantastic trip to ATL. It is so wonderful for your family that you are visiting. Hugs all around!
