Scavenger Hunt from Life #165: Jul 13- 25

Fletch: Thanks. Beautiful bowl sketch... the white sparkle is super. I will look up Jada, the artist.

Joan: Thanks. Thanks. Wonderful line drawing of the vehicle, people, and the bench.

Jo: Thanks. Wonderful sketch of challenging pipes... I would easily got lost and don't know what to do with perspective.

Jade: Thanks. Bob is cute and it shows in your sketch.

Robin: Super set, with quick dancing lines. I love the truck with X'mas ornaments.

Jade, looking forward to more sketches of Bob.

Ai, thanks for the info on the ink. I love seeing interesting colors. I have a brown ink that I like too, De Artrimentis Brown which is waterproof.

Robin, congrats on putting the items into a still life. Love the truck with the Christmas tree in the back!

This isn't Bob but I wanted to show you guys what I did this morning after using a YT tutorial by Lethal Chris Drawing. I got into a lovely flow state and feel like I'm headed in the right direction...

Jo - do you find the pipes relaxing to draw? I remember reading "drawing on the right side of the brain" and other YT videos where it says that the more complicated better to get into the flow state / left brain.

Joan, your continuous line drawings are amazing.

Jo, at first glance I thought submarine. Everything is metal and the long curve looked like a hatch. Nice pen work.

Ai, I’m with the crowd I like the brown ink. Makes me think of the drawings you see of the old Masters. Love the sketch of Tone getting a shave. The flowers are simply beautiful. Color, form texture you nailed it all.

Jade, the new icon is fun. On the flower like his you used broken lines to give it a softer look. I call that flow getting in the zone. It’s almost like meditating. Excellent drawing!

Robin, like the wandering composition drawing mr in and up. Am with the crowd the little truck is super cool.

Stephanie, Marigoldd, Ned, Pine Cone 👋🏽👋🏽👋🏽👋🏽

Thanks Fletch! Yes, I didn't think of it like that re the lines. I love that flow/meditative feeling.

Thanks again for the "cat-inspiration" the other day.

Thanks Ai! I've told Bob he's got some fans here 😼😹

Jade, I like the cat sketches. This last one has nice work on the eyes.

Fletch, thanks. I like seeing if I can get everything in the continuous line sketch without going over too many of the lines. It's a challenge. :)

10 - cup - continuous line with brown ink
11 - plate
12 - book
13 - art supply (crazy pencil)

The NYC Urban Sketchers had our annual gathering at the Queens Botanical Gardens. One of the events was one of the members, Karen, doing storytelling while we sketched what the story brought to mind. I went rogue and instead I sketched Karen (in the yellow shirt) and some of the members listening to her stories.
14 - something soft (clothing) - watercolors and ink

Fletch: Thanks.

Joan: Wow ... on mini lines and variety media, esp. the crazy pencil. The soft cloth piece is full pack with cool people and action. You did them all so good.

Joan - thanks! I love your soft cloth piece, really lively and well executed.

Ai, thanks so much.

Jade, thank you. Yay for a continuous line sketch. You have such neat lines. Have you done continuous lines before?

Joan - I've tried a couple times over the past few days. I like the letting go of control aspect but it feels kind of weird, doesn't it? 😊

Hi everyone, I got so behind in a couple of days. Yikes! Thanks to all.

Ai, I love your art materials, cone for mundane, good find! Always like Tone's haircuts. The flowers are so delicate and beautiful rich color. You captured them well.

Jade, the flower is great with flowing lines. Each of Bob's portraits get better and show personality and life. Your "not Bob" is great. I found the complication of lines not relaxing. Required too much planning and thinking! I'm a quick draw kind of sketcher. Ha. You did well on the continuous line. Never as easy as Joan makes it look, eh?

Robin, awww, love the little truck and your kitchen stuff. Your ink colors and hatching always bring things to life and make me smile.

Fletch, you would think submarine! Made me chuckle. Last place I would go.... don't like water and am claustrophobic.

Joan, your continuous line work is always inspiring and sort of intimidating, right? You make it look easy. Fun crazy pencil. The sketch at the Botanical Gardens is so fine!!
