Scavenger Hunt from Life #165: Jul 13- 25

Ai said, “PineCone: Thanks so much. Yes, I will keep the Neocolor2... despite I have not touched it for super long time 11 years ... imagine the protection little sponge inside the box, decaying... But my reason to keep was 1st because it was soo expensive... from Switzerland... So I hope to get around and use them more often from now on. And 2nd there was one more sentimental reason... my girls used to draw with them during my paint out with my art group, I took their picture and posted it on SketchCrawl.com and the publisher had contacted me... then boomed the picture got landed in an Urban Sketching book by Thomas Thorspecken on bottom of page11 .... Let's me try to find the book to show you.... Can you spot me in a nearby picture ? (I was the second lady knee siting on the floor from left).”

Ai
— I’ve been back so many times to look at these pics of you and your amazing kids, and your sketching friends!!! 😄☀️ Thank you so much for posting them… what beautiful memories… I’m not surprised that they put that image of your kids in the book — their fun and creative spirits shine through 😂 Their happy faces make me want to go do some art too 🎨 Next time I’m at the library, I’m going to see if they can find that book for me through a loan search with other libraries - doubtful, but it can’t hurt to ask ☺️

I’m glad you’re keeping the Neocolors!!! You’re really good with them, and I love that they bring back your precious family memories 😌 I had to laugh at your description of the “decaying” protection sponge pad — I know exactly what you mean 😄

JoC — Your sketch of the soft bear, and everything around him, sings to me and comforts me. I’m amazed that you could bring so much glazed ceramic smoothness and shine to an image with such perfection in the softness of the surroundings and cloth bear outfit, and furry reality to the bear. I swear I could drink from the mug and cuddle the bear🧸 This painting is so beautiful, deep and comforting, that I hope you have kept it — so full of light and life…

Everyone — I haven’t finished responding and commenting, but I hope to do so later today 🙏

PineCone: Thanks.

Robin:
Wow... just the warm yellow glow that I need to cheer up my morning and happy days. Super free spirit art work.

Pine Cone, I would never think poorly of you. I understood completely what you were saying. I concur with Ai "Bless you for coming back to art and share it with us. I think it takes strength to be open about our shortcoming regardless of how it happened to us. And it takes even more strength to be positive and keep moving forward." With Joan, too. We look forward to your thoughtful posts and comments. Thanks on my pastel, you know I like pottery and my stuffed toys and the pastels do the trick.

Ai, your building 10 days later is amazing. You have a beautiful drawing and the color makes it pop. Cool dark greens on the plant at the mall.

Robin, I like you colors on the sketch for clock, cup and book. Thanks for a "new to me" mug. The gourd is very delightful and lively.

Joan, great sketch of the useful cars with the excellent building and flag. Loving it.

Thanks for this Hunt Ai. I didn't do much but enjoyed what I did. See you all on #166.

Pine Cone, super comments. You should look for that book thru the library. It may be available.

Robin, super gourd!!! Makes me think of fall...too soon. lol

Jo, thanks. Whenever I add a flag I think of you. :)

JoC — Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughts, and thanks also for reminding me that I’ve been on a plein air adventure. I hadn’t even realized it !!! (Happy dances 😄)
I meant to thank you earlier for the advice about how to paint glass and reflections. I never knew that, and it makes sense 🎨
I also meant to ask you to leave the “darks” if you keep working on the bear pastel, as that is part of what makes this so deep and special. The exceptional nature of your painting, and its lighting, remind me of “Girl With a Pearl Earring” (Vermeer I think).
And your hand sketch of you drawing your hand sketch is great, and made me smile 👌 Loved the way you sketched that ceiling with a metal roof.

Jade — Thanks so much for your kind comment 😌
Lovely blue mug and I like the shape of the stars. You did well on those difficult ellipses.
Nice breezy style for your sketch of the lavender flower…
And look at Bob !!! 🤎🖤🤍💚 What a adorable rascal 🐈 … and there’s more of Bob — sketches and photo — and another cat as well👋 In my opinion, there can never be too many animal sketches. Plus, tabby cats have a very special place in my heart 🧡🤎🤍🖤💚 (as do horses). FWIW, I really felt that in post #85, you’d reached a peaceful and thoughtful evolution with the whole process of drawing cats, that translated onto the page in a compelling way. Very, very well done. I like the simplicity of your continuous line, as well as the connection between the cup and the book.

Ned and lurkers👋

Fletch — What a lovely bowl — knowing its history, the way you drew it seems quite touching to me. It’s a beautiful and sensitive capture of what looks to be a well-loved treasure 😌

Joan — Thank you so much for your kind comments. You, and everyone here, help me keep trying… 😌
Amazing continuous line sketches of the parking lot and the biker — good grief, you make complicated things look like a breeze 😂 Luv your crazy pencil sketch (aren’t they all 😄) and your deep brown ink sketches made me smile, as did your rogue sketch of the storyteller and her audience of sketchers 👏 I keep running out of words… beautiful secluded scene, gorgeous dahlias that I’ve been back to see over and over, and impressive “Frank” building scene 🎨

Ai — Thanks so much for your kind comments, and for hosting this fun event 😌
Your brown ink sketches are wonderful and made me smile. I love that brown ink too 🟤 Your gorgeous sketch of yellow and red flowers stunned me. Superb in every way. From the amazing green shades of the leaves, to the detailed flowers, and the excellent shadows, wowow!!! Fun and excellent workout sketch, and also enjoyed seeing your amazing new sketch of that building, with the step-by-step images. Super instructive, and much appreciated 🙏 Lovely mall plant capture too.

Robin — Fun group of bold, uplifting sketches, with cool objects, and angles, and points of view 😎 The curvy statue is wonderful with those beautiful colors and lines, and the little bird steals the show !!! Good to see the gentle green of the lovely “wisdom” group of sketches… a healing group of sketches in fact, with just the right touch of yellow 🙏 and your gourds look like sunshine itself ☀️
