Wow this is great how many are here for this hunt! Greetings from Michigan! Hi to Jade and Marigolddd great to see you both here! My wife and daughter met me here and brought a beautiful postcard that Ai sent, thanks Ai! I'll probably be back for the next hunt.

Pine Cone - a picture is worth a thousand words.

jade;- was reading this months issue of Color magazine and saw this image of a cat drawn in color pencil and instantly thought of Bob and you. From your drawing this is how I imagine he looks and then thought this how you will be able to draw him with practice and patience... (The hatching style you deciphered is called contour hatching. Key to giving form to a shape.)

Ai - sentimental value is the best value to keep. So kewl you and the ladies were in the urban sketching book.

Jo - love the pastel and the amazing ink of the hand drawing a hand which made me think of Escher.

Oh I love that Fletch, thank you.. you're spot on as that really looks like bob (down to the massive paws ) .. it is an amazing drawing. It would very cool if I end up doing something like that. I'm saving that image as inspiration...

Jade, he is very handsome. I like that white chest and how it pops in contrast to his dark coloring. Glad you can use that beautiful drawing as an inspiration.

Thank you Fletch. He's a wonderful boy, he brings us happiness every day with his love (and antics!). Yes, I found the artist who made it.. so amazing. Coincidentally I have a book coming from the library about drawing realistic pictures of animals.

#2 bowl. Old ceramic bowl we inherited from Sha’s grandmother. Seeing Pine Cone drawing with .5 mm seemed a challenge as it has been a while since I used thin lead pencil. Not as symmetrical as I had envisioned. After completing it in graphite I thought it really need a touch of color so added some color pencil over the graphite. Think the color added a lot.

Jada, Sema Martin is a terrific animal artist. Many here may not know her story but she gave up a career in Aerospace Engineering at NASA to become a professional artist.

I really like your sketches Fletch. I am learning when to leave areas "white" to create light and form, in sketching. You've done this well here.

Sema's work is beautiful too, thank you. Sometimes the thought of being able to draw like that feels far away but of course, it is possible and I'm enjoying learning so that helps. I think loving cats so much also helps me to want to keep drawing them.
