Vivien - Pretty daffodils. Wide narrow format does look tough to photograph. Does camera have panoramic maybe? Painting with a fog does sound like a real challenge.

Joan. - Love all the greens in that hillside. Cool lid truck. Like the ink work on that patio scene.

Brian - Fabulous shading on the paper plane.

Jo - Great textures with the pen. Easel full of junk would fit in with our décor. Cute dinosaurs. Great hatching on the plant. Nice little watercolor. Like how you gave the mountains texture.

Robin - Stay safe. Prayers are with you.

Jo & Joan: Yes, MooDeng baby hippo is quite famous, I wish to go sketch there but with its popularity, now they only allow less than 3 min. for each patron to stop by the cage area... And it is super crowed, esp. on the weekend.... So I probably cannot do it, and the zoo is about 2.5 hours from my home. I hope by the time, I could travel to see MooDeng, she will still be super cute.

Jo: Love both structures, got the warm cozy country feel to it.

#2: Man made.
Been wanting to have a go at this can opener for a while, and now I finally had an excuse - I like these very open-ended prompts. Of course, I have also been terrified of this humble object, and it turned out even more difficult to draw than I feared it would be. I committed my usual sins of stretching things out too much, and being unable to"see" the perspective, and exactly how the thing sits in 3D space.

Jo, I didn't hear about naming the baby hippo. Will be listening to hear what the name ends up being. I like your large and small stuctures. Glad you have some good views from home. We are having some showers lately. I didn't sketch (Did I say that???) yesterday. I'm trying to finish up a few paintings that I need to get ready for a show that is happening right after we get back from Venice. Also I've been trying to finish shopping for the trip and getting some of the items Jerry needs to bring with him. He likes to wait for the last minute. lol

Fletch, I see your blue dot. Glad most of the rain seems to be missing you. Let's hope it stays on track. Stay safe! These storms are scary.

Brian, looks like your opener is a handy one and can open pretty much anything! Nice shading on the opener and the shadow too!

Ai - that is a cute little turtle both in your hand and in your sketch.

Brian - See no faults from here. Shading is beautiful. Conveys the metal texture and looks like it could be picked up!

Off to eye doctor for annual glaucoma field test. Hopefully home in time to do a little art or at least comment some more.

Fletch, happy you missed the brunt of the storm. Friend in Tallahassee, haven’t heard from her yet, but they probably don’t have power.

Thanks on my house and shed. I was happy to get outside. I was going to sketch outside at the Physical Therapy but an infestation of crickets. I’ll see if they are there still today. Crazy.

Ai, somehow I missed your comments about the baby hippo. From the reports I saw it did look a little crazy. I hope you'll get to see it at some point.

The weather was really overcast here so I headed to a coffee shop to sketch.

I'm sorry for being away again for so long Wasn't my intention and I think of all of you all the time, literally morning, noon and night, always

Came here today to get the list, and try to start over with re-learning how to draw - but discovered the storm instead (I get very little news.)

Fletch, I'm so very glad that you guys are okay, my goodness, what a terrible scare...

Has anyone heard yet from Robin? So frightened for her...

Hope to comment later, and maybe try to sketch. I got a book on learning to draw that was partly a compilation of the first couple of books I got as a tiny tot to learn to draw horses. This book though is large and seems to have wonderful lessons with a fun range of subjects.

It has a lesson on drawing a pine cone () so I collected a bunch of real pine cones, and hope to do the lesson for the SHs if the Universe allows. First, though, I want to start back with something less complex, so hopefully maybe in the next couple of weeks, I hope, I can post something.

Thank you all for your kind comment of my tiny turtle. I myself been having a kind of work storm week...but hope to get to sketch a few mores. Today I also had my eye annual check at one of the busy state hospitals in Thailand. I am exhausted from many queues and many people... too tired to sketch today...lol.

#3 Rock.
I had to attend an open day thing at the school where I work. The wind was blowing my papers all over the place, so I grabbed a rock from the garden to serve as paper weight - and then remembered that a rock was one of the prompts for this week's hunt, so I made a quick sketch!

Ai, I was thinking of you as I sketched at the coffee shop. I wish I had some of your cafe views. Hope your eye exam results were good. Waiting on lines can be so exhausting.

The storm in the USA has been the main news on our tv screens here in New Zealand. Glad you are safe Fletch and Robin? Hope she is safe and maybe doesn't have electricity so she cant post? Keep safe everyone.

#1 big building/big structure - "A big church from 1452." At least when I was trying to fit everything on a small piece of paper the church looked really big!

Pleinair from today, oil colors on paper with acrylic priming. Painting time: 2 h. Size: 35x24 cm. Temp: +11 Celcius. Brrr. Winter's comin'.

Moscatel, thanks. We don't have too many fun coffee shops/cafes like Ai has, and I get tired of sketching the same views of the interiors. Luckily the people change. lol I like the view of the church. You showed its character.

Vivien, it always amazes me that the weather news travels so far. I know they said the Carolina's (where Robin is) got hit hard. A lot of the time it is the power that is affected but but flooding happens there too. I'm not sure exactly where she lives, but photos show a lot of flooding and downed trees. Will hope she gets in touch when she can.

We are having damp, drizzly weather today. I had to go out and pick up some frames locally, so I did a few quick sketches from my mobile studio.

12 - 3 wheels (the trailer for the sailboat)

13 - free space #1 (assorted items with triangle, circle, or square shapes) done at our sketch night the other day.
