Gotta Have The Radio On

"Why painting even matters"?
I think you actually give a pretty good answer to that question yourself; as a juxtaposition to the big mean world out there...

I need to have music when I'm doing my art. It needs to be rock music or heavier; slow music means I work slower and my work looks boring. I can't just listen to birdsong either: the birdwatcher in me insists on identifying / watching everything then I get less art done.

For a while now I've been meaning to do an experiment where I divide my WIP into sections and paint each section while listening to a different musical genre. I think it could be quite interesting.

I don't think I 🤔 could paint without music! What I play now is music by Caro Emerald.

She is a Dutch pop&jazz singer - the "beat" of her music I feel augments my painting. I don't listen to the words, just the beat of the music.
