experimenting with old(?) masters' techniques

I painted this one back in 2014 an tried to finish it in one day because I thought it was a quick sketch. now I am thinking, maybe it wasn't and I could add another layer. Bouguereau was the painter I think and I always admired his painting techniques. the original is not as elaborated as his other portraits - sorry I do not find it at the moment ...

I see a contrast between the very elaborated skin and the remaining of the painting (shirt, hair, background. This emphasizes perhaps what is considered as most important in the picture.
Expression of the face is very natural and well done, and this is the most important in portraits.
