——————————

2c - “landscape” - abstract mini landscape

— virtual painting

— painted later, from imagination, indoors
(see below for explanation)

— iPad Pro
— Apple Pencil
— ProCreate app

— freehand, beginning with a blank canvas

——————————

You guys helped me discover that my sketches could all be thought of as just “notes”, and that makes my Re-Learning to Draw Plan really fun for me. And Ai said something about making a painting based on the sketches being notes, and I decided to do that today!!! 😂

TL;DR (too long, don’t read)

Part 2a was done from my mobile studio a couple of days ago. There was tall weed grass all along the side of the road, but one part caught my eye, because there were flowers mixed in all of a sudden. It looked like the grasses themselves made a special path for the flowers to join the grasses.

So I stopped my mobile studio, and did a really quick “note” scribble to remember how the flowers joined the grasses, along the path made for them by the grasses.

The scribble is the SH #167 item, and is my 3rd official ***Notes-to-Self Sketch***.

Then, yesterday and today, I was still thinking about the grasses making a path for the flowers, and decided to create a painting ***from imagination*** based on that “feeling” I first had driving by. So Part 2c is the little painting below, which I made based on the sketch, BUT painted in the Procreate app, starting from a blank canvas (NOT from the actual “note” sketch).

This is the first painting I’ve done in many years. Thank you all (and other kind people as well), for giving me back a moment of real life that I thought I would never experience again.

Jade — Thanks so much for your thoughtful encouragement, and kind words.
I love that pic of Bob with his paws sending shafts of love and sunlight into the room 😉😍
I know what you mean about finding this niche of special people, and I’m so grateful we all have each other’s backs 😊 I’ve been meaning to visit the other CS area you’ve found to share your work, but haven’t gotten there yet. I hope to visit you there later today or tomorrow. Give Bob a pet and a treat from here 🐾 ***insert cat food emoji here*** 🐾🐈
Your cat sketch is amazing. Every detail is perfect, from the shine on the hat to his face and clothes….. I had to smile at his expression, slightly puzzled, maybe wondering why he’s in a top hat and fancy clothes 😄

Joe1lt — Thanks so much 👋 Garfield!!! Hmmm, maybe he’s around here somewhere 🐈 I’ll keep an eye open 😉 👀😉
Happy mid-August to you too 😄🎉
Oh, and here’s Nemo 😍 Love your fishes, and beach 🐚 They make me happy 🏖️

Joan — Awwww, thank you for your encouraging and helpful comments ☀️
About using a sketch “to inspire a painting”….. I feel bad, because I meant to add what you said into my post, that you and Ai and everyone inspired (above). I’m so sorry. What you said means a lot, and I’ll always remember that you helped me try to begin painting again, as did Ai and others. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Gorgeous beach painting, sigh…… I’ve been studying the wonderful foliage you painted, wondering how you made it come alive 🏖️ The whole scene is like that. Now I should probably go wash the sand off my feet, the beach seems so alive and real 🎨
Lovely scene at the Herb Farm too, peaceful, serene…

Ai — Your trip sketches are incredible, and I never knew that there were art gatherings with hundreds of people together doing art, WOW, what a great event!!! And your work is superb, truly inspiring, as are your photos. Thank you for taking time to post your images, and letting us share in the event, and walk the streets with you 😃😂

Loulou — Lovely fruit sketch, nice shape and shine….. now I’m hungry 😊

JoC — Thanks so much 👋 I love the way you composed your sketch - it feels natural without being overwhelming - I hope your PT went well ☀️

Ai, don't worry about having time to comment. Just enjoy sketching with the group there. The museum is great with the colorful shutters and flowers. I love the sketch of the Michelin Street Food star of Phuket! You caught the action of the chef and the preparation area so well!

Pine Cone, I'm so glad your sketch inspired a painting. I love how your grasses add such a textural element around the bright flowers. I can just imagine that bigger and hanging on a wall. I think your mojo has returned!!!:)
