What art supplies have you bought recently?

My pastel box arrived. Really excited to try them out! I've heard great things about them.

I was gifted some art supplies for Christmas.
A set of 24 Iridescent Sennelier pastels, which will go wonderfully with the set above. And a grey glass kidney palette. Always wanted a glass palette to help with cleanup, but I'd never seen the kidney shaped ones made of glass. They're always square. Cleanup will be so much easier now! Just scrape with a razor, and done!

Just yesterday, I went downtown to get three fan brushes (small, small-medium, medium), a Roman Szmal Aquarius watercolor starter set with 5 full pans (Y, R, B, G and Caput Mortum) (I discover myself going continuously to the primaries for mixing) and a tin box of Hahnemüle postcard-size watercolor paper.

The watercolors and Hahnemüle postcards will prove handy when traveling with the family (when I rarely have a few minutes for a quick sketch).

No pictures, but I've picked up some small-sized wooden panels to try image transfers on. I like the little square ones the best: 4 or 5" looks like fun.

I also found some actual "printmaking" paper that's lighter weight than my usual hot or cold pressed papers, but still heavier than the Canson XL mixed media stuff. I hope it proves better for the gelli plate stuff I've been playing with.

I raised my drafting table (which I should have done years ago) so I could stand while painting. Hopefully that will encourage me to be less "tight". So I replaced my old desk task chair (an old one used in my office many years) with a new drafting chair. That way, I can sit or stand. It was on a Black Friday special at Amazon for $95. The week before, only Prime members could get it for $99. It was a welcome change to be pleasantly surprised at the excellent quality. So many items now seem so flimsy. My age is showing here, but many items (clothing, furniture, etc.) we bought decades ago are superior quality to replacements. The base and adjustable foot ring are metal, cushion dense and durable, and plastic parts are very thick. No problems with assembly, although Jerry has put together many Sauder items (two TV stands last year) that came in a hundred pieces (literally).

Though I haven't done any art recently. I took a break to focus on crochet projects and life matters. I have to get back to it!

These are from Amazon - and do not slid on a slanted surface. Apertures flexible for larger size brushes. It really helps if one is using a few brushes at once with different colors, as to avoid waste.

Here's some recent finds from a thrift store and clearance racks at a nearby art supply store:

A very nice neoprene Targas laptop sleeve for my large U.go pochade $4.25. Extra protection in the backpack...
A nice big smock I can use for painting $2.75. It goes below my knees. I look so goofy in it haha I don't care ....
2 - 10pc sets of Pan Pastels (one Greens & one Landscape) partly shattered for $15ea.
3 - 24x36 Ampersand Hardbords w damaged corners/cracks for $10ea. I'll cut these down on my table saw.
A 12x15 pad of Pastelmat paper. No cover, missing two sheets and bent corner $27.

White nights watercolor full pan Inca Gold. 3rd re-buy of this gold.

Total cost 65 euro. Had a birthday code from shop so 5.00 euro that was removed from shipping cost.
I usually order twice a year used to be 3.

Here are some recent buys from a thrift store

A vintage Kueffel & Esser pantograph for $2.79. It's so beautiful, I don't think it's ever been used. I have a barrister's bookcase that my Dad made me, so I'll display it in there with a couple other vintage art tools. I have other pantographs to actually use.

I got some new masking fluid, the one from Holbein. The one that I used previously had a terrible smell, was very sticky and clumped super easily. The new one is very nice - only a very light smell and easy to work with. Great for the price I'd say.

A couple of collapsible Talens Creation brushes. Cheapies (5€ each), probably not great quality, but they are the perfect size to carry in a small pouch with other supplies (clutch pencils), not too thick, not too large, just the right size to be unobtrusive so I can always have one at hand.
