What are you working on?

Hello John, welcome back. I remember these from just before you left. Good you have been busy. I am working on doing a few dig ups from the public domain oil paintings. Not trying to duplicte but makes something in the same vein, sometimes close, others not so. I find I learn a few little tricks that way. Also making a few new snow scenes. Introduced Azo Yellow and Cad Red Light to the palette and I love both colors. I guess it's the new mixes that get me. Will post some next week but prefer to work without influence when doing new things and some of the public domain are new to me.
And Ayin, I am with snow. Your patience is amazing.

congratulations on the sale John. I think that one you're working on is going to fly off the easel too- love the composition.

I have been busy, saw your post about family history Terri. First time I've gone there overtly. 1. Tribute to Pat, can't find it, but will post when I get back on the computer. N 1. is now celebrating family members who jump outside the box and celebrate being there. 2. Self portrait. WIP. Looks like it comes from stress, I think, but it doesn't. Just evolved over a week or so. 3. Cats and bird game, my mother and I played. I had what appeared to outsiders to be a lot of freedom. 4. Our family kept secrets. I think we all thought if we made a fuss the house of cards would fall.

Great works JennieJo. Medium? If I had to guess the first is watercolor the second pastel the third, watercolor and the last (my favorite) digital? Interesting variety.

Thank you. Last one, one of my favourite choices, digital from my photographs. As is the cat and bird - from images in my sketchbook. First, acrylic. Second, oils.

Thanks Terri. I did think of your posts as I posted these.

Well before I talk about me I must say that the art projects you are working on are very cool. That installation of the multiple embroideries is something that might be seen in NYC gallery. It's about a concept that's beyond just pretty pictures which seems to be all they have in the galleries out further on LI. It's like all the interesting stuff goes to the city. And as Sno said ....your patience is inspirational. Art is not just inspiration it's also about the doing. Dammit. :)

The two that sold were these...
Country Road.....
glad I sold it because it was making me mad and I was starting to hate it, and acrylics, (it's always the medium's fault lol).....now realizing that maybe I need to start de-saturating colors. Maybe. I'm like stuck in Fauvism or something LOL. As paintings become more tonalist they seem to gain gravitas?

and this one "Diamond in the Sky with Lucy" ,really glad I sold it because it was my very first sale and it confirmed that at least one person liked something that came from my unique personal voice. If 99% of the folks think it's coo-coo but even one likes it........that's just fine by me.

The one I'm working on will have some additional elements that will make it a magic realist piece but I also keep thinking about more abstracted works like "Lucy" above. But I've told myself that I need to finish this one first. To put the hours in like you are doing.
Thank you John. How very nice of you to say. I wish it was in a NY gallery!

Congratulations on your sales. That in itself is inspiring! ♥️

Jennie: loving your new pieces--very much! And Brian, your sketches always inspire me to get my butt in gear and start sketching more. Really nice work. ♥️

Found it. Tribute to Pat. Short explanations: 2 women in his life-wife and mother in green, came from a big family, had horrid time in WWII, always supported, quietly, his kids, and on the right his hidden self. His father was an artist, his mother an opera singer. We lived in a home filled with talk back radio. Virtually no books, and no art.
