After I looked at my oil painting of the Boatman, I wanted to contemplate the darker side of the motif, and so I made this quick study in acrylic. I may still get around to going further.
Very good! If you didn't have that spot of yellow and the white that seems to be smeared behind the figure's head, I think it wouldn't have been as successful as it is. That's what brings out the light in the trees (defines them) and lightens the entire piece as a whole, even though the subject feels darker. This painting feels super accomplished. Congratulations. I wouldn't change a thing!
