Robin, thanks for the list. Looks like I may have to think! Rhyming sketches.....hmmm.

Joan clever for overlapping. Lovely shadows and colors in the sky.

Ai, awwww, look at Snoopy. Well done. Maybe joe1lt will show up with Eeyore for a companion. Fantastic find for large machine. I love planes.

I'll be back.

Hi,

Joan love the overlapping fences idea. Your beach sketches are always refreshing to see) .

Ai- oh what luck to have a super airplane right handy for sketching! Lucky day! The snoopy is fun ….fun is good…

Hi JoC

Here’s three of a kind though I wasn’t looking at the list to sketch, just needed to sketch for a break..
1. Three Christmas ornaments

Ai, nice job on the roadside airplane! Good thinking for a large machine.

Jo, thanks for your comment.

Robin, I see you are actively involved in packing up the Christmas decorations. Nice work!

The NYC Urban Sketchers met at Industry City in Brooklyn today. It is a 35 acre, mixed-use destination with large, former industrial buildings that now house dining, shopping, cultural events, food vendors, shops, and public programs. Several of us sketched in an area called Japan Village. It had a bit of Japanese architecture, shopping, and restaurants.

When we got there I realized I didn't put my watercolor palette back in my backpack. Luckily there was an art supply store there where a bought an inexpensive small set of paints (only $6).

It seemed warm enough so we sat outdoors to sketch the courtyard in the Japanese section. By the time we finished sketching there my fingers and toes were freezing. Luckily there was a fire pit where we could warm up a bit.
2 - touching (fake logs in the fire pit) - watercolors and ink

3 - underneath the lanterns

We found a table near a ramen booth that offered a place to eat as well as sketch.
4 - hand tool (spoon) - watercolors and ink
5 - 3 of a kind (hanging lanterns)
5 - round ramen bowl for my soup

Robin, what a good find for 3 of a kind. Love that you sketched your boxes and stuff. I put ours away today but didn't think to sketch. Dang....

Ai, it is harder to put away when you have more stuff out. I just had the little tree and a few other things.

Joan, Awww, lovely day. Nice finds for the tools , 3 of a kind and bowl. The fire pit seems a good idea. Nice work.

It was cool here today. One of the word puzzles I do with our (geriatric) kids had procrastinate as one of the words. Son, David, said, "Oh that is the perfect puzzle for mom." They know me well.

Later, Me....

Robin & Jo: Thanks so much. The airplane is inside a rest area gas station, 20 miles from our house; It just happen that we had to pass that way to take our repairman to the cabin.

Joan: Thanks. Love your Japanese scene, receding feel of those hanging lanterns away from the fire pit. The ramen people are cool too.

I better sketch these bananas quick, because they are ripening fast ...So everyone here can eat it, lol....about 40 minutes

#3 overlapping...bananas
#4 2 things that rhymes...Thai melon+ dragon fruit...
