Scavenger Hunt from Life - #168 - August 18 - 30

Pine Cone, sketching dragonflies are like trying to sketch hummingbirds. lol It is so hard to see what you're seeing.

Shane, welcome to the hunts! I like your hatching style. Great detail to the pattern on the teapot. Sketching when you travel is a great thing to do. It makes you observe your location even more than normal.

Fletch, your shading in graphite is the best!:)

Ai, I like your handheld device for the phone. Nice sketch of it. I've never tried one.

A6, was in Pilot G-Tec C4.

1 and 2. This morning I went back to the beach and tried these.

1 Vision, beach , Initially, i draw the boat, which are two pedal boats that were on the beach in front of me. Then I tried to add the scene, including a bit of sea.
2 Fast

Joe, good job on the paddle boat and the people on the beach. Mmm...nice fast car!

Fletch, your lines on the clip are so neat and even, and as always nice graphite work.

3 - vision (glasses) - watercolors and ink on paper that was not good for watercolors
4 - worn (jacket and shirt)

Not sure how this happens, I'm so behind. Don't know where the days go and don't get a thing done. Sigh..

Fletch the glass is super, such a hard shape to get and you outdid yourself! I vote for a glass of cabernet. The trackball looks so real. Above and beyond on the shading. Good clip. It has a good shape.

Pine Cone, you did a great sketch of the dragon fly on the move. I loved the story, too. Thanks for your kind words.

Shane, fun to see you, thanks for joining in. I like your hatching and shapes on the flashlight?? The teapot is gorgeous.

Ai, clever find for the handheld object. Those holders look handy. Wouldn't work well in my pocket where my phone usually is. Nice hand, too.

Hi Jade !

joe1lt, you are out and about sketching again. Well done. The scene is great and the lines on the car are so good.

Joan, thanks, O like the house with the plants. So different and great textures. Your vision and worn clothes scene is fun. Clever find for yellow!

Joan: Such a nice set. I love coffee press, and the plein air home is very pretty. Then handheld remote and the wallet are super cool.

Joe1: Lovely beach scene with car and boat.

Thanks for your comments, Ai, Jo, and Joe.

Ai, good sketches of the ceiling fan. My neck would be hurting from the strain looking up. I find the blades are hard to get in the right position and shape with that kind of perspective.

Joe, I like the lines on your cars. Are you working from model cars?

Pinecone - pencil dragonfly is better than no dragonfly.....glad you were ready for anything...sounds like a
quiet moment with nature.

Shane - welcome to the scavenger hunt....great ink sketches!! Hand grip Flashlight? is covered with yummy tactile ridges ...happy daisy teapot...

Fletch - wow, great shaping up! wonderful! am guessing it is like a type of mouse? ahhha, the quintessential paperclip!!!. Love the subtile way you go the roundness of the wire. The shading is SO subtile I get tired of using mind to search and so then.... just enjoy you achievement!!! sweet

Ai - well, so far handheld is a top pick and I have never seen anything like the first three.....nice depiction, clear and looks comfortable - watercolors bring it all together nicely. Cool fan....never seen one like it. nice lighting.....

Jade - Hi, good to see you

Joe1 - fun loose beach sketch....fun the look at and let the image kinda fall into consciousness, like catching a lobbed ball.....interesting ...thanks alot for a new sensation! Good cars

Joan - lovely mansion..those chimneys are unusual. Great contrast between the flat walls and vegetation..Good with the greens.....kept good differentiation.! SMILE....The lady's freckles make her to be merging with the background... :>) aaahh the ink with bleed makes me ache to get to my pens....nice simple images like that are relaxing!!! I love my french press. I use it mostly for the ashwagahanda mushroom coffee I mix with coffee everyother day or so. Sweet Digi....she looks so sweet and FLEXIBLE!!

Jo - thank you for the opening comment for I feel the same way.....dishes stacked, laundry been in process two days....etc, did get lawn mowed couple days ago and go to work but......phew......good think I am not a worry wart......just a day at a time....

Ai, you have really been looking up a lot for this hunt. Nice lines on the ceiling lights.

Joe, thanks.

Robin, thanks mutely for your comment. My hubby is the real coffee drinker so he gets the big coffee maker. I have maybe a half cup of decaf in the morning, so the small French press is mine. I like using it. It makes a nice cuppa. The first lady I sketched is Irish with red hair and freckles. The paper I used didn't really let me do small freckles. They started bleeding into blobs. lol

10 - makes a sound (cars) - watercolors and ink

For Robin, hope you all don't mind. Fun poem.... well....

Dust if you must....... but wouldn't it be better
to paint a picture or write a letter, bake cookies or a cake or plant a seed,
ponder the difference between want and need?

Dust if you must, but there's not much time,
with rivers to swim and mountains to climb,
music to hear and books to read,
friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must, but the world's out there
with the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
a flutter of snow, a shower of rain.
This day will not come around, again.

Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go - and go you must -
you, yourself will make more dust!
