One of my first paintings in 1992 was an imagined landscape.
The problem I had was that I was too poor to own a car to escape from the city of Sydney to paint a bush scene. I lived in a very small flatette, on the ground floor, and the windows had steel bars. I felt imprisonned there.
So I decided to mix the two scenes. I could only dream escaping the Big Smoke to paint the Blue Mountains west of Sydney.
Oil painting on plywood (1992). 1220 x750mm.
