Today I just didn't want to drive into SF to paint. Didn't want to hassle parking, didn't want to get lost in the winding roads in the park, didn't think that Blue Heron Lake (formerly Stowe Lake) was going to be worth painting, yada yada yada. So I went anyway.
The drive was smooth, easy to find, easy to park.
The weather was a bit foggy, but that made for some lovely atmospheric views. The lake was way way larger than I expected and highly scenic, with all kinds of sculptural trees and bushes.
And I painted two of the best I have done in a long while! (OK, so there are three here, but the first two I really like a lot: 9x12" soft pastel on Brown PastelMat, and the 7x5" watercolor/ink on paper, with the 9x12" watercolor Neocolor 2 crayon the last and least.)
