Yes... but I don't know if Warhol intended the soup cans to shock. From what I've read, someone whose opinion he valued told him to simply paint what he liked... and he liked Campbell's Soup.

I seem to remember that Vincent van Gogh "The Potato Eaters" had shock value.
the more I think about it, the more things come up.
