Amigurumi

Yes, it has a sparkly fiber woven throughout the strands. :)

I finished one side of the bed. The other side is in-progress. I decided to pause that project though, in order to focus on a blanket I was making for my mum. We're flying to visit my family for Christmas, so I'm hoping I can manage to get it finished on time to bring it for her.

Unfortunately, my quality control inspector keeps slowing my progress... 😆

TK H-H your kitty is so beautiful ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Love your crochet too. Yes,they like to sit on it and keep an eye on progress. Looking forward to seeing the end product but thanks for sharing in the meantime. I'm in love with your cat!

She's a cute little thing. :)
She used to be a feral cat. Her mother was part of the feral colony in our townhouse complex. She had her, and another kitten a few years ago. Both made it to adulthood, and the other girl apparently moved on. Kishka (the above kitty) stuck around though. My now-husband took a liking to her when she was still little, and was putting food and water out for her. She eventually got comfortable coming just inside the doorway for meals, so she'd stop by around 3 times a day and come in for a snack.

She had two kittens herself, before we caught her in our TNR project. Both are adults now and still come around periodically. Both also got caught in our TNR.

Another kitty showed up one day and became part of the colony. He seemed interested in us and started coming inside to hang out with us. He'd lay on the couch with us some days. We eventually decided we wanted to keep him, and he had bonded with Kishka prior to the decision. Which worked out, because we already had the intention of eventually closing her inside and keeping her. So both came inside and have been here around a year now.

We suspect the boy was previously owned, because he warmed up to us quickly. He was quite friendly, perfectly fine with being pet and picked up. We never found an owner though. We suspect he got tossed out...
Kishka would have just recently turned 4. So spent her first 3 years of life outside. She's still iffy about physical contact, but she's been making big strides recently. Been laying on my lap lately, sleeping with us some nights, and is getting much better with pets. :)

She's gorgeous. Thank you for sharing her background. She's come along way with you and your hubby's help! I think it is amazing how they can gradually come around with trust and love. ❤️ Love that she's bonded with the boy too. What a lovely little furry family you have! 😻

Amigurumi update - I've been making two wheelie bins with racoons 🦝🦝🦝🦝will post when done. On the plus side, I have a month off now so more time to crochet and draw! 🧶✍️🎉

Thank you Grapes! I like my job but it does get a bit in the way of art and crafts lol 😆

Your right, jobs and other stuff do disturb our art making, like me spending a day in a museum 😉 Lately I even stopped cooking and left it to hubby. Although, I still keep doing desserts.

Hehe.. though I guess the museum is "research" 😉 I'll see if my hubby will do that! He does most of the house stuff already tho so maybe not 😏

I picked up 3 x 25g balls of this soft and chunky yarn in a charity shop to make a teddy bear 🧸 I've only used DK before but in case anyone has any tips or free patterns?

Biggest thing I've found so far with the chunky yarns, is that they're harder to pull through the stitches and therefore break fairly easily if you pull on them too much. Then you get little fluffies everywhere...

I suspected maybe looser tension would help with them. But I crochet quite tightly and was having trouble loosening my tension to test that theory.

I haven't tried that particular one though.

Uh oh.. poor hubby will have to deal with fluffies everywhere! Mm.. I'm a "tight" crocheter too. I love my 2.5 hook as a result but had thought 4 might be better, so this backs that up.. thank you. I'll let you know how it goes!

I tried some much larger hooks with mine, but still struggled. Those were some pretty chunky yarns though...

Still trying to get the blanket done for Christmas. My helpers really aren't letting that happen though...

Every time I try to work on it, I have one or both immediately show up. Not sure if they want to spend time with me, or if they just want the blanket? :ROFLMAO:

That's interesting. I'll let you know how I get on.
Lol, they are so cute! But yes.. they're not very patient! 😻😻 at least it's a good endorsement of what you've done so far though!

I know this is an amigurumi thread, but because I'd mentioned it before, I'll just share here.

I finished the blanket yesterday!

So I successfully finished it on a short time limit, in time to gift it for Christmas. Hurray!

Hurrah. Glad you posted it here. Beautiful colours. AND the cats let you finish it! 😄👏
I'm just finishing up two lots of my racoons in dumpsters and then will try a teddy either chunky yarn.
