Amigurumi

Sorry to hear you set aside the fingerless gloves but maybe later and different yarn will call its name. I did not ever get into amigurrumi but can really appreciate the people that do it. So many different types of crocheting can be done and that’s why I love the “hook".
Me too. I learnt in the pandemic and have done it constantly ever since! I find it good for my mental health.

It's like visiting a friend. gets warm and fuzzy hugs. 🥰
That's it. I've been full on into drawing the past month or two so I've been doing less crochet but I picked it up last night and got exactly that feeling 🤗☺️

First festive crochet 🧶 🌲😋

Thank you! 🎅🧶 What are you working on? I'm now making some raccoons in a dumpster! 🦝

You have been busy! Beautiful work. I like the sparkly yarn you used on the top. Also, you have so many crochet hooks!!! Hehe. I am on my second 2.5mm. I only ever seen it use that lol though I have a 1.75, 3.5 and 4. A few less than you! 😄🧶

Yes, I have quite a collection. I will say as I delved deeper into crochet (since I’m not a pattern follower) I became an explorer of how yarns and hooks worked together. I also did fall into the collectors mode and always was on the look out for a hook I did not have.

Nice. I can imagine there's a lot of variety of combinations with hooks and yarns. I have a clover 4mm which is particularly lovely to use but I'm a bit weird in that I generally seem to only like doing 2.5mm amigurumi! 🧸I have 2.5mm clover too which is great but the 4mm really feels smooth! I think you'll understand what jm talking about! 😅 Do you just crochet what you fancy and put it together?

I always try to challenge myself to try things. In my felted crochet work I like to try mixing yarns (wool, novelty and acrylic) to see how they work out once felted. Since most of my wool is old and does not have a label it can make for a "lemonade from lemons" work.

This piece did not have several yarns I believed were wool but once felted many of them did not felt up soooo had to work many novelty yarns to fill in. I ended up pleased with the outcome but it did take me several weeks to replan the design.

I prefer Susan Bates hooks. However, Boye hooks are a little better for bulky yarns. I did not get into the ergonomic hooks so the onces I have are mostly just collection ones.

I use steel hooks for layering over my crochet of felted crochet.

That's beautiful. I like how you evolve and try things. It's also nice to use up stuff though I've given up getting yarn from charity shops for amigurumi as they vary too much for that. Mm. Maybe I'll try freestyle one day!

I haven't heard of those. I've only used ergonomic though my 1.75 isn't. I find that hard to use in comparison.

They are brands. SB (on the right) has a deeper and defined hook part . Boye hooks(on the left) are rounder hook parts

Told myself that one of my goals for the early half of this week is to finally finish my darn manatee plush. He's been a little armless torpedo for weeks now.
And my projects-to-do list is just growing. But I've told myself I need to start actually finishing things before starting new ones. I'm bad for not finishing art projects. 😅
