Hello everyone,
Those old air cooled vw’s spark nostalgia into all of us, and I couldn’t resist painting them on a Sunday afternoon last May.
This is at Percy’s garage, in Madison, Wisconsin. It is a great old service shop for vw’s. The owner knows everything there is to know about these cars. I hope once he retires someone else keeps it going
The sight size is 16x24”, and the framed size is 22x30”. I know it’s not a standard size, but I love painting with the 2x3 format. I have my frames made by a local Amish cabinet maker. The wood is harvested only a few miles from my studio.

. For me painting is more fun when I’m designing with the contrasts of big shapes.
Even the loose style reflects the feel of that automotive era. Perfection!
One of my old friends had one, and we had a blast driving around in that thing.
the cars directed it. I’m having fun remembering the old vw days hahah.
