9 x 12 acrylic on paper .. alla prima .. painted today July 11/25

I took an old painting from public archives. It was of light key with low saturation but I changed all that around and used the old piece as an entry into a newly renovated shack. I was almost pleased with this one. It came close. I would not recommend this to anyone with archival plans in their head. Supposed to be real bad for all kinds of bad things happening to your painting. In my case, this is destined for the destroy bin so it's of no concern. It was done to help me understand heavy body paint. Those dollar store one's I am using are very fluid so I beefed them up with cornstarch to make them more heavy bodied. Worked very well. The paint handled well, for me, and that might not be well to you. So when I get my heavy paint I will be in the ballgame. As for my experience with acrylic I have to say things are moving as they should as acrylics at first was a -10 and now after 4 pieces I can see the light so it all should fare well.
As for this piece, there are a few worlds of interest if you sit and gaze for a minute or two.

Wow, that’s so interesting that you created heavy body paints with cornstarch, Wayne. You got such a nice result with that beautiful still life! I’m getting frustrated with my fluid acrylics but it’s my own fault because I don’t have every color in heavy body versions. I wonder how well the cornstarch paints would hold up - would they be susceptible to mold or attractive to insects?

Thank you Donna. From what I’ve read, yes. All you mention. I’m sure there are other additives that would work and be archival. I ordered a heavy body medium in Matte which I’m hoping will act somewhat like my old cold wax medium did in oils. I don’t know when I’ll get the order but will post when I get it.
