What are you working on?

Well... looks like I lucked out... for now. The warm front is late in getting here. Only 83 today... but mid-90s tomorrow. Better get working in the studio while it's bearable.

I got the foilage design done on the left. The empty space between the various plants will be more gold leaf.

Almost finished with the primer on this side. I'll finish it either later tonight or early tomorrow... before it gets too hot.

It looks like you are putting more detail into these as I dont think I have ever seen foliage before or a bird and large flowers all at once. I really like what you are doing and I think this could be really special.

I started with the flowers in the hair with the painting Flora which I've posted here some time ago. It dates back to 2014. I continued to build on ideas from Gustav Klimt, Alphonse Mucha, and Botticelli (among others) increasing the floral and decorative elements. 6 or the last 7 paintings... from mid-2017 onward... employ nearly as much floral design as the current painting. This one probably looks as if there is even more due to the fact it is smaller and has less empty space... or space with flat color. But thanks for the comments.

The texture of the metal leaf is interesting-- it's more granular than gold. Could be the substrate too, depends on the adhesive, but I think it works very well.

I often scribble thoughts on the backside of what I'm working on. Sometimes the backside is preferable to the front, no? 😁
I wrote my first poetry in YEARS yesterday morning. I thought I might have been deluding myself and still drunk from the night before, but, no, it still looks good today. I believe this forum is to blame.
PROUDLY PRESENTS (working title)

This is really beautiful!

I was given 3 envelopes with golden powder in them, 3 different tones. Not sure what it is . I looked up the company and found out that it had been an architectural supplier of some sort but the article dated 1928, something like that. Not sure what the powder is but it is kind of heavy. I thought of mixing It with something so I could use it somehow. Do you have any idea what this could be mixed with?

Every winter the squirrels would to chew a few sets of christmas lights around the building where I live. Last year I bought a large can of spray and sprayed the wires and the bushes around the building. they stayed away for the first time except for a few nicks. I think that rats and squirrels are both rodents (?).
I can't remember the name of the product but I got it from a hardware store.
Yes, squirrels are just rats with bushy tails. :)

Just to check it out, I think I would paint a bit of modpodge (since it more or less stays tacky)on something and try some of the powder in it. Then, if you like the effect, you might get some sort of medium to use it with.

It's bronze powder, most likely. Gold is almost impossible to make into powder, which is why shell gold costs so much for such a teensy amount of gold. I don't know how miscible it is with paints-- best to just do a small sample and see what happens.

How do you delete a post? Wrote something in the wrong thread and tried to delete it? 😐

We hate squirrels. Nasty animals. They bully the birds and have endlessly greedy appetites. Last year they were a plague, huge numbers of them all over New England. I shot as many as I could, sorry. Over thirty in total, grey and red. I don't enjoy killing things, but the last thing you want setting up housekeeping in your attic is a squirrel. They're incredibly destructive. This year it's chipmunks. Also nasty, despite their reputation for cuteness. Usually we get four to six. This year, so far, we've done in over fifty. Thus preventing who knows how many more. You want to interact with a wild animal, make it a procyonid, not a rodent.

You can't delete posts. You can edit them for up to an hour after posting them. If you need me to fix something like that, just send me a PM and I'll be glad to help ya. :)

I've always had bad relationships with squirrels. They have thrown nuts and rocks at me, stolen bird's eggs, screamed profanities at me...they are weird.
