Another snow day!

My poor little pup, Raphael, came leaping up onto the patio and into the house and up on the chair next to me. He kept shaking… he’s a mix of Dachshund, Jack Russel, and Chihuahua… none being cold weather dogs. He’s fine now… wrapped up in a blanket with just his head poking out.

I have an appointment with a doctor in about 2 1/2 hours so I went out to start shoveling the drive and digging the car out and found there is literally a foot of snow! ❄️ It looks like I’ll be canceling that. Now I need to check to see it we actually have any food in the house for dinner. 😟

Visit to the local farmer's market. It's a bit of a misnomer - not all that much farm produce, but pretty much anything and everything else:

It may be that these two get along well. It also may be that they are simply worried about losing each other in the crowd:

Still more snow today. We actually had lightning and thunder with the sudden snow squalls of near white-out conditions. Gladly, I did all the shopping for the next 5 days or so and thus we won’t be going anywhere today, tomorrow, or Monday. I’m just sitting in my “library”… well, considering some 4000+ books and nearly as many CDs I guess there is no need for the quotes. I’m sitting in the library reading and listening to music. This afternoon, I’ll be making Chicken Paprikas… a classic Hungarian dish… although I learned how to make it from my mother whose parents were German/Austrian.

I’m also slowly working on expanding my Spotify playlist to include all or most of what I have on CD. I just populated a Vaughan Williams playlist.

So Brian… I gotta wonder what South African tacos are like?

I don't recall that I have ever actually had any. Well, maybe years ago, and as I recall, they were nice enough. I wouldn't know whether they are at all similar to Mexican ones.

I freeze up just looking at those photos, beautiful as the scenery is. Now a library full of books and Vaughan Williams I could live with. :-)

It was a beautiful sunny 🌞 day today… but 13° (3° wind-chill) when I checked the temps. It’s predicted to be far colder Tuesday. For some reason the pups didn’t want to stay outside for long. 😆

We are going to get a lot of snow soon here in N.Y., so early this morning I did the requisite panic food buying. Many others were doing the same. Nothing like a snowstorm to bring people together. Supermarket socialism. One guy was almost running around. Probably had to be at work. I'm excited about the snow. Not the clearing it from the cars and driveway. It's like "Oh cool! We are getting a lot of snow!" and then it's like " Oh crap we got a lot of snow, this isn't fun anymore!"

We went shopping last evening getting enough food for meals through next Wednesday or so. The stores were packed here as well. Snow wasn’t predicted until Saturday but today it started coming down several inches an hour briefly. It stopped… but then the brutal cold came in with temps dropping to 5° (-15° wind-chill). I had to make a run out to pick up some meds for the pups but we can remain inside from now through the weekend and into early next week.

I start feeling that when 6 months with two meters high piles of snow has passed with chilling cold. No fun anymore. Except, this yr we are going to have it only for 3 ... 4 months max as it started to snow as late as in Christmas.

Stlukesguild, that IS freezing 🥶
We had couple of weeks ago 1 F (-17 °C) and now 14 F (-10 °C) so I can tolerate that but not going out much with my asthma.

Brian, you have summer ? 🌞 ⛱️

This is being described as potentially the worst winter storm in a decade or more. It is impacting nearly half of the country Last I read some 14 states had already declared a state of emergency). We are being given advice on dealing with the situation across various social media and news outlets. The real snow is set to begin here this evening. I need to check out my furnace vent to make sure it remains clear. We are currently at 10° which is predicted to be the high for the day.
