When doing a group of zebras, should I be painting the stripes on the front zebra with a red/black mix and paint the background zebra stripes with a blue/black? Will that help with depth in the painting? (I am asking because I just about finished a zebra painting and feel the depth is off?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I would not be so concerned with color as with definition. Have a few select stripes, or portions of stripes, well defined with hard edges on the nearest Zebra with looser and less defined edges on the background animals.

I really appreciate the help with this painting.
Brad - Thank you for your advise. I will see if I can soften some areas and sharpen others.
Kay - Thank you for your help. (I love your work!)

This one has been a test for me and I have to practice more backgrounds along with many more watercolor tricks. I think I made the rear zebra a bit too big. If smaller, he would fit into the b/g a bit better. I am going to try and lift some of the b/g darks and see if that helps. Thanks again everyone.
