These are oil and cold wax on paper made from leftover paint on my palette. It's kind of hard to get the effects I want on such small surfaces but it's fun and good practice. They are 5 1/2 x7 1/2 and 5 x 5
Thank you Wayne, Jade and Grapes. The hardest part of working with cold wax is stepping away from the easel so the wax can set up. It gets very smeary otherwise.
At first I thought you made a spelling error in your title, now I see it's a play on words, clever. I like the second one better, it reminds me of a landscape too
It’s funny that you all seem to prefer the second one because I really want to do more like the first one. Maybe I will rethink that! Thanks for your thoughts, Liz.
These are wonderful! They each work as an abstract landscape to my eye, though the second one is more obvious. In the top one, I see red rock country with high cliffs, though the palette doesn't really suggest it.
It's funny how the eye can try to make representational art out of abstracts sometimes!
Either way - gorgeous work, Donna!
Terri, it’s an effort for me to keep “things” from appearing and wrecking any sense of abstraction. I envy those who can make shapes and not feel compelled to make them look like anything. The second one was much more abstract but as soon as I saw a tree it was all over. I’m glad it still comes across as somewhat abstract and thank you so much for your kind comment.
Grapes, I see an old village in the first one too and wish I could go there for a sun-filled vacation! I’m thinking cobblestones and cafes. Thank you!
