The 5 letter restriction is part of the rules. If we start changing the number of letters also just about any word would work.

Okay.
But I was not talking about changing as one likes, the same rules would apply so in addition to the scrambling you either skip out one letter, or you add a letter or you subtract a letter.
I was not proposing a change in rules, just musing a bit about possible add-ons. No idea if it would work...
