The Next Sketch Is

This was my first portrait in acrylic for an exchange. I remember the nose and mouth not lining up in the reference photo. And I still see it here and I want to change it.😁But that would not have been accurate. first time I used a neutral gray background. And I have to say I liked working from it better than white. Which I’ve heard many artists say over the years. I do you recommend it.
Next: something dream like

Looks great to me Christine. Acrylic? Wow. The shading, not that I'm a portrait painter but it looks great. It has an accurate yet artistic touch.

This is titled August at Rothko Cafe. I was actually dreaming of this painting while I was putting it together. Sort of took over my brain for a while, for better or worse. Art can be that way I guess.

Oil.... medium size :)

next, more dreaminess..

I love that you were dreaming and creating it at the same time John! Lots to ponder and discover in your painting-a very cool title too!
Also, thank you for the kind words regarding my portrait. I was used to pencil, so that was a big jump for me.

Beautifully done, Christine - I like the style a lot.

John - very cool painting.. I like the dream link.

Thanks PaintBoss 😄 I love both of these. The first reminds me of neurographic art.. KreativeK mentioned it here recently. The statue is stunning.. beautiful light / shading. Love the hollyhock details.

Sanlynn - oh my, such a sweet Eeyore ! 🥰 He looks so soft.

Thanks. I really tried to pay attention to the values so I could portray that illuminated light effect at night.

Well, I gave the next piece seasonal memories, but if no one has any of that, maybe you would like to post a piece from a challenge. It doesn’t have to be finished, and it can be any challenge you’ve ever done anywhere.

Very nice Enyaw. Particularly like the way you handled the light and also gave some energy to the piece with your brush strokes.
